I recently stumbled upon La Plazita Mexico Tacos and I can confidently say it's become my favorite taco spot in Boston. As a Mexican, I'm usually pretty skeptical of "authentic" Mexican food in the area--but this place truly delivers.

The first time I stopped by for takeout, I was welcomed by the sound of Mexican music and the warmth of friendly staff, instantly taking me back to the taquerías I grew up with. I ordered the carne asada, al pastor, and birria tacos. All were delicious, but the carne asada and birria were absolute standouts--tender, flavorful, and served on fresh handmade tortillas that make all the difference. I also grabbed an horchata agua fresca, which was sweet and refreshing, and couldn't resist a homemade churro that was just as good as any I've had in Mexico.

While waiting, I had a great conversation with the cashier, who generously offered a complimentary flan--it was creamy, sweet, and a perfect treat to end the meal.

On a return visit, I brought a friend and we tried the carne asada burrito and the carnitas tacos. The carnitas? Increíbles! Every time I come back, I'm more impressed, and I'm already planning my next visit to sample more of the menu.

La Plazita is the best thing that's happened to me taco-wise in Boston. If you haven't been, you're...

I cannot stop ordering from here once I did the first time. My first order was birria tacos and chips and salsa on the side. First off the fact they come with 4 tacos instead of the 3 most places do was absolutely stellar. I was full with 3 tacos and the chips but it was nice having an extra one for later.

The salsa was to die for, it was genuinely some of the best salsa that i’ve ever had and i loved the chips, after not having them this second time around i think it’ll be a staple of my orders from the place.

Not only was the food absolutely amazing but they also tossed in a churro for free that was in the bag which was a spectacular surprise! There was genuinely 0 issues with the place and i’m happy we have a new place in town that is this good!

The hot sauce is also amazing! It was the perfect amount of spice for what a not over the top hot sauce should be, it was a good addition and also had some chipotle hints within it, overall i’m glad i got it so that i can use it on future orders and other dishes.

10/10...

My husband and I were counting down the days/hours until this Watertown location opened, filled with anticipation if it would be the answer to our taco dreams and all I can say is … dreams really do come true! I have not been able to find a local taco place that even came close to the tacos I enjoyed while living in Southern California…but this place might be even better. I got one each of the chicken, carne asada and birria tacos all of which were delicious and super fresh right down to the homemade tortillas. My husband got the carnitas taco especial and he said it was the best carnitas he has ever had…and this guy has had a LOT of carnitas. The chips and salsa were also super fresh and delicious with a very generous amount of salsa, we ran out of chips before salsa which was impressive. All this to say… we will definitely be back, likely multiple times a week. Do not miss the opportunity to try out their food, you will...

12/7/24 (today) was opening day. They have a handful of tables but no chairs yet-awaiting approval from the city (expected later this month). I ordered a churro, chips and salsa and 4 birria tacos. Everything was fantastic. The churro was crunchy outside and soft inside- still warm when I got home. The homemade chips were delicious- and the salsa had just the right amount of ‘kick’ to it to clear my sinuses. The birria tacos and broth were amazing- I know they will be my favorite. There is free street and lot parking. While they are getting set up with Uber Eats and GrubHub, prices are higher through those vendors because they take a cut of the sales. DoorDash is set up. I recommend Toast as the prices are not inflated- and you can order for pick up. The staff was friendly and helpful- busy day 1 for them. Great selection of beverages. (Replaces The Spot restaurant)

We heard this new Mexican place opened where The Spot used to be. Just dined in last night. The staff were amazing, seniors get a 10% discount, 5% if you use cash but......this review is about the flavors. The Birria Tacos had a slow-cooked beef and umami flavor that tantalized my senses, especially mixed with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, etc. Dipping sauce completed the party in my mouth. Wow!! Spouse scarfed the chicken tacos! The chips and salsa are a must! The flan we dove into and didn't stop until the bowl was licked clean. Everything is fresh and homemade. We'll be back to this neighborhood gem! (Pic was half the order - it was to good to wait.)
