If heaven has a bakery, it may very well be located on Main Street in beautiful downtown Wauconda, Illinois.
This mother and son owner-operated Sicilian Italian bakery is unlike any other I have been to in the Chicago area, or anywhere else for that matter. Their knots (Sicilian Italian cookies) are simply amazing with long lasting flavor profiles that stimulate and engage your tastebuds and impress from beginning to end. Their crinkle cookies are also every bit as delicious.
I drive about an hour each way to make the 40-mile trek here from my home near Rockford, that is how fantastic this bakery is; and doing so during the holidays has made me my familyās new dessert hero.
For the last two Christmases we decided to give our old school relatives a break in the kitchen and let Lots-a-Knots make the fresh cannoli for us, this took much convincing as I am sure any old school family can appreciate. Our most beloved family members did not give up the reins easily but are so glad they did, they could not believe how fresh and wonderful the candied orange cannoli tasted, every bit as good and if weāre being truly honest maybe even a little bit better than homemade ā it depends on who in my family was making the cannoliā¦hahahaha. Filling the cannoli fresh using their piping bag right before serving is a game changer let me tell you.
To understand one thing, it sometimes helps to understand another. So, if you were seeking the best hot dogs in Chicago, you wouldnāt just go to any old hot-dog stand you would seek out Superdawgs or Portillos and if you were looking for something a step above that and truly exotic you would go anywhere Doug Sohn (formerly of Hot Dougās) was serving up his specialty version of this iconic Chicago mainstay.
If you were in the market for fine chocolate, you might very well start at Fannie May or Ghirardelli or try a little harder and maybe even head to Margieās Candies or Katherine Anne Confections; but if you were seeking the pinnacle of chocolate creations you would no doubt seek out Katrina Markoff at Vosges Haut-Chocolat for a truly mind blowing experience.
Well, the same holds true for Daniela and Jacobe Terezaās Lots-a-Knots bakery: You can find cookies anywhere from grocery stores to gas stations, and you will no doubt drive by other high-quality bakeries on your way to theirs. But if you are truly seeking the absolute best among high quality Italian bakeries you need look no further than Lots-a-Knots Italian Bakery.
My taste buds are tingling as I write this review and that should tell you everything you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI walked in on a recommendation from another local. First off, the family that owns the place was incredibly warm and inviting. I got a caprese sandwich, it was amazing. The bread was perfectly crunch and soft. Probably the best caprese I've ever eaten.
I had to get a cannolis because they are in my top 3 desserts. They had multiple kinds that they mentioned they sell out of. I got the traditional which was with candied orange peel, apparently Sicilian traditional because I had never heard of this kind. WOW.
Lastly, I got a vanilla latte which tasted a lil more than just vanilla, also amazing. The spot was a bit small so I decided to take it home but I think on a less snowy day I would have stuck around. All in all, I was amazed by this experience especially being a newbie in the neighborhood. Can't wait to bring my bf for the Italian...

ashley and jacobbe were just the sweetest! super intimate and cozy setting⦠as a high schooler, i canāt wait until they expand their hours and itās a little easier for me to visit! ashley made some great suggestions and jacobbe did a great job at explaining where their bakery came from and how the cookies are made.
great location and great people. cookies were AWESOME and i love the interaction they keep with their customers with the surveys every week!! definitely make sure to follow on social media.
they had vegan options and my cappuccino (made by ashley) was lovely! the entrance wheelchair accessible and super cute. the bakery itself was not too large or not too small, and i would for sure say itās one of the (if not the) best bakery in wauconda! this place deserves all the five star...
