Leno's Sandwich Shop — Restaurant in Waukegan

Horrible...... This place is rude and ignorant. There's a nasty woman by the name Penny that I spoke with and she was disrespectful and rude. Possibly racist. I googled the nearest best Italian beef in my area from Zion and this restaurant popped up. 1st I'd like to say that their Italian beef sandwich is disgusting. If your looking for the genuine toasted tender Italian beef with melted mozzarella/ provolone cheese with gardenia peppers this place is not it. The sandwich was cold the meat was tuff and dry served with raw onions and tomatoe's . This resuraunt does not speacialize nor should even have the right to advertise Italian beef sandwiches. I feel that the cashier should've explained to us that this restaurant is not known for Italian beef sandwiches. I spent $20 on two dry roast beef sandwiches which were thick dry and horrible. No chips no fries just a cup of Au nasty juice Waukegan should be ashamed to have a resturaunt like this. As a customer I'm appalled. I'm sitting here with this sandwich stinking up my house like a hoagie sandwich when I ordered an Italian beef. After hanging up on me the woman called me back offering me to send me a sandwich of my choice something different the way I wanted. I appreciate her efforts but by now I've driven all the way back to Zion and I still don't have a real Italian beef which is what I originally had a taste for.... can anyone tell me where to find a classic authentic Italian beef in the nearby area.....

Sooo disappointed. I have been eating here my entire life and it had always been exactly the same amazing sandwiches...but something changed besides the decor. The bread is definitely not the same not as good as it was and possibly the signature italian dressing as well. This is the second time I've eaten here since I noticed the changes and honestly won't be returning until I hear reports of the bread being switched back. Like a great pizza joint changing it's crust, they have managed to kill lenos greatness and reputation for consistency over all these years in what is probably an attempt to make a few cents more profit by using inferior bread. Garbage. I finally was able, after much high recommendation, to stop by and order an Italian beef, only to learn this shop is under new ownership... the sandwich was disgusting. I couldn't believe a simple sub could be so easy to ruin I kept hoping the cheese would overpower the flavor, but both we're grudgingly lacking. Bland. The beef had a strange color and flavor, no joke, it made me vomit. And the counter lady was, in few words, unfriendly, brief, far from helpful, and it's hard not to be disappointed in her personally for letting me pay nine dollars and change for garbage. Well, for a can of coke and small bag of cheetos to fight the bad taste...
