Toluca's Restaurant — Restaurant in Waukegan

Went in to the restaurant to place a to go order & waited. Ordered 3 chicken tacos & a Chile relleno dinner. While standing there waiting for the order the 3 tacos came out & I was told that the rest of the order was coming which I thought was weird because why bring out the tacos first? are they not thinking that they are gonna get cold just sitting there? About 5 minutes later the rest of the order comes out in a black bag all greasy. I looked at the hostess and asked her to give me another bag because that one was greasy. She told me that my total was $20.31 so I gave her my credit card & when she gave me the receipt to sign it showed $21.12 & showed a 81 cent service so I questioned the service amount & she responded that it’s a small fee for using a credit card. I asked if they had a posting for that & she pointed to a posting in Spanish only stating that unless you pay cash a fee will be charged to your card. I asked why that sign was only in Spanish and not in English also for the non Spanish speaking customers & her response was that American people don’t question the service charge. Really??? To top it off the food was horrible!!! The ground beef inside the Chile relleno was burned and it tasted disgusting. This place is horrible & on a Saturday night there were maybe 2 couples there so that goes to show that their...

The spicy steak was very spicy and good. I also got chicken soup to have tomorrow. It's a whole drumstick and a whole thigh just in some broth. What am I supposed to do with this? Why do I have to build my own soup? This is lazy, not traditional lazy. And now I have a $13 thing of soup that I'm not going to eat because it has bones in it. I got chicken soup... I didn't know I was ordering a quarter of a chicken with some broth. Not only that, I don't like dark meat and when there's no bones I can't tell. Yes, that's a personal thing. But if there were no bones and it wasn't on the bone still I wouldn't be able to tell and I would be giving this five stars in buying from this restaurant again. Instead it's... This... If I wanted bone broth I would get bone broth. I drink bone broth on the regular.

I’ve been coming to Toluca’s for about a year now, sometimes even a couple of times a week, and it never disappoints. The food is always delicious, and the quality stays consistently great no matter what I order.

What really keeps me coming back, aside from the amazing food, is the environment and the staff. Whether I go in for a casual dinner, to catch up with friends, for a business meeting, or even a work-related dinner, I always feel welcomed and comfortable. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and perfect for any occasion.

I especially want to highlight two of the waitresses who always go above and beyond – Roshell and Gabby. They’re both incredibly attentive and detail-oriented, always making sure everything is perfect and that I have everything I need without even having to ask. Their service truly makes each visit special.
