North Ave Grill — Restaurant in Wauwatosa

I gave the service 1 star, but not because of the waitress, but the hostess. My husband and I were meeting my son and his girlfriend. They ended up running a little late (10 min.) with all the construction and the fair going on. We walked in we asked for a table for 4, but the hostess said she couldn’t seat us until everyone showed up. However, a half of dozen parties of 2 came in and were seated at exactly the same type of table we were going to be seated at. We asked again, five minutes later, we’re both seniors, and my husband is handicapped. He especially was not comfortable on the bench. Nope, couldn’t be seated we were told again. When our son and girlfriend got there, we were finally seated, right next to a couple at our left, and a man and his small child on the right (2 people, each table). Their tables were identical. The hostess was a teenager, if this is how you’re telling these young kids working there to treat customers, it’s very sad. Why would we lie about having 2 more people showing up? We spent over $81, plus the tip. The food was excellent , the waitress was fine , but after being treated like we weren’t worthy to be seated because of some stupid policy, or a kid who doesn’t get it, we probably won’t be coming back. Had I said we were a party of two, we would have been seated right away at a table the same size. It’s not like we would have taken the table for too long of time. North Avenue Grill was good! We had the country fried steak and ghost burger with fries. The hand breaded fried steak was on top of a biscuit and smothered with country gravy, 2 eggs, and pan fried potatoes. It was $17.00 for all of this, great price and great portions. The food was good.

Overall the food was good. The country fried steak needed a little salt and pepper but still was good. I come from a family of great cooks and we like seasoned food. Also the steak need to cook a little longer. At some spots it was oozing a slight red tinge of blood. Normally I would send my food back but it was a tinge. All the chefs have to do is pound the steaks out to a even layer and it will resolve that issue. Country fried steaks are NOT meant to be bloody. The ghost burger was good and those fries and ranch were delicious.

Service: Amy was our server and she was great! She answered all of our questions and kept our drinks filled. She also made good food recommendations. We put our orders in and 7mins later our food was done. Fast and good service!

Atmosphere: was great! We ate outside. Indoor is pretty tight but, cute. I see why they are busy.

I’m a 17 year old boy and I used to come here every week to get dinner with my mom and grandma. A couple times they got our orders wrong and that’s okay people make mistakes. But one time really took the cake. They messed up our orders one night and we called the next day because the place was closed. When my mom called the manager didn’t say sorry she said she would tell the cooks to “step there game up” we never asked for our money back or anything she sounded annoyed and like she wanted to rush off the phone. We called back and told her how we felt with her behavior and she said wasn’t being rude when she was. My mom asked for the owner “Mike” the lady said I’ll give you his number but he won’t call you back. A mouth or 2 later we decided to try again with ordering when my said her name a lady on the phone said hold on and a other lady came on and said we are no longer serving you because of the messed up orders and the call from last time. Mind you WE WERE NOT BEING RUDE AT ALL. A couple mouths before this incident my grandma and I went into the restaurant because they messed up a order and the manager said and I quote now I “have to make a new order for nothing” I hope this isn’t about race because we are a...
