In the heart of Waxhaw, nestled between our local brewery and quaint gift stores, lies a culinary gem that has captured my imagination. It's not a haunted house or a supernatural phenomenon, but a humble eatery that serves up a dish so divine, it could make the dead rise from their graves to partake in its glory.
Corey's all angus meatball sub, a seemingly simple creation, is a masterpiece of flavors and textures. The meatballs, tender and juicy, are like the heart of the dish, pulsating with a rich, savory essence that is both comforting and exhilarating. They are nestled in a soft, pillow bun, like a warm embrace on a cold night covered in a soft blanket of house made marinara and smothered with fresh mozzarella.
Like a candle in a window on a dark night the flavor of the whipped ricotta just calls you in. It's not just creamy and smooth, it's like a dream, a ghostly apparition that haunts your taste buds with its ethereal lightness. With so many layer of complexity to the dish, hot honey, lemon zest & fresh thyme it washes away any worries of the day.
The restaurant itself is a character in this story, a quaint place with a warm charm that feels like stepping into a cozy, old-fashioned pub from a bygone era. Jenny and the rest of the staff are friendly and attentive, like the loyal townsfolk of a small, close-knit community.
In conclusion, this meatball sub and whipped ricotta are not just dishes, they're an experience. It's a journey into the heart of flavor, a ghost story for your taste buds. I give it five out of five stars, and I eagerly await my next visit to this...
Read moreSimply put, cork and ale sets the standard for customer service and fantastic selection.
During the COVID-19 shutdown, we wanted to have a special familiar but delicious charcuterie delivered to our uncle for his birthday. (We live in Las Vegas or else we’d be celebrating with him) Two things we knew he loved, Cabernet Sauvignon. If you’re going to sit at home for your birthday you might as well, At minimum have a nice glass of wine and a great meat & cheese board.
We searched high and low for local restaurants near Waxhaw that could provide it for take out even delivery and the only restaurant with an active social media page, posting their availability as well as their willingness to help same day was Cork and Ale! We ordered a large meat and cheese plate and a bottle of white oak! They can bring it to your car, or for us they were willing to deliver! I bet depending on availability during COVID they will probably be able to deliver to you, they are the group I would suggest you lean on for brew, wine, and food needs!
This may be our first time ordering from them but won’t be our last! Their servants heart mentality has not gone unnoticed! Grateful for this essential business! They saved his birthday gift and our...
Read moreThree weeks ago we found ourselves in Waxhaw at the recommendation of a patron at Kefi vineyards. He suggested the Cork & Ale so we decided to check it out. His suggestion was spot on. The food is delicious and prices are very reasonable.
We were seated outside and our server was Reid. Heck of a nice guy. That day happened to be his first day there, though we would not have guessed. His courtesy, attentiveness and friendly demeanour would make you think he had worked there for years.
We decided to come back to Waxhaw again , this time with friends, to see what else is in that town. As we walked by Cork & Ale we noticed that Reid was working again, so we decided to stop in and order food and drinks. Once again the food was delicious and the drinks were good. Of course Reid was the same likeable guy from the previous visit.
The point of this review is that service matters and because of Reid’s professionalism and good humour this business has return customers + two...
