Attempted to have an early dinner with my family there today, Sunday. We arrived just before 4pm and asked for a table for 5 people. The hostess stated it would be 5-10 minutes because they were on a shift change. She took my name and number and their system sent me a text. At the time, there was the hostess and two other young ladies behind the counter. There were only 3 tables being used in the dining room, 2 tables being used on the bar side, 2 people sitting at the bar and 1 table being used outside. It was clearly not a busy time. After 15 minutes, I had not been contacted about a table. We were standing outside and could see 3 waitresses standing in front of the counter talking to each other and the hostess and one of them was on her cell phone. At this point we decided to leave and go elsewhere in Waxhaw. I didn't receive a text saying a table was available until exactly 30 minutes after checking in. By that time, we drove to Emmet's, were seated, received our drink order and put in our first round of food order. I have been to JH in Matthews and the service there has always been good. If what I experienced today is the service the Waxhaw location will provide, I can't see this restaurant surviving. Too many restaurants have shutdown because of slow business. Management needs to take a hard look at how things are running and get rid of the employees who don't want to work. As many people have, I worked at a restaurant when I was younger. Never have I heard that someone can't be seated because of a...
Read moreBree, Dana, Lexi & Paul are absolutely incredible!! Open one week and this establishment operates as if they have been open for years. We were fortunate to have dinner at the bar tonight. Paul was on his A game, running the bar with a teammate while also taking food orders and recommending some excellent choices on the menu as well as to drink. Dana is a show to watch, while training Lexi who has only been bartending for a couple days, these two single handedly, held down the restaurant side of the bar while making all of the drinks that go out to the tables. They were non stop for over an hour and a half while we were sitting there enjoying the great food. Then comes Bree, you notice very quickly that she is in a management position, as she is always helping everyone from staff to patrons to the old man who dropped his coat behind his chair. But at times you see her helping make drinks, then she’s serving food, she wiped down the area we were just about to sit at. She was constantly making sure everything was in its right place, She grabbed supplies when staff needed it and in between all of these many duties, she still finds time to talk with customers and tell them the story behind Jekyll and Hyde. As you guys are about to start you next location, Fort Mill, I can assure you that you guys have gained another extremely pleased family who will now become regulars because of our first experience in Jekyll and Hyde, Waxhaw. Looking forward to our next visit!!! Jeff,...
Read moreThis place is just too much gimmick and no substance. The food should be the focus and it is clearly not. Everything about it is trying too hard from the seared logo in the burger buns to the dry ice in the cocktails. The music was kitchy and way too loud. Several tables near us seemed to have to shout at each other to be heard. The lights dimmed at some point too but then kept flickering because they apparently have a bad dimmer switch. I wouldn't mind all that if any of it actually was well prepared or cooked. My husband and I both ordered our hamburgers medium well. His came out undercooked and mine was extremely burnt everywhere but the very thickest part in the middle. The cocktail I had didn't taste like anything and cost $15 (not noted on the menu) for a tiny flute like glass. I didn't know alcohol could be bland. The menu is very confusing and we thought our sides were going to cost us $6+ each the way its written. Thankfully they were included in the meal and it was a good thing because I only got about 5-6 Brussels sprouts for the serving. They also ruin the Brussels with a very strong unnecessary balsamic vinegar which is not described in the menu that it has that. The "candied bacon" was just regular bacon. I will say the only decent thing was the mac and cheese my husband got. The service was also good with everyone being...
