Come on Huddle House. What happened?
You serve me a waffle that is small and not your usual plate-sized ones with your HH logo on it - this one looked like someone undercooked it with a dollar general waffle maker.
You give me two tiny sausage patties that are burnt on the edges.
You give me a sticky and dirty pancake syrup bottle.
The tables aren't clean.
The waitress was short with me and had an attitude even though I was happy and excited to go here - because usually I love this place - also she asked if I wanted whipped cream on my hot chocolate. I said no thanks, and she put it on anyway. Clearly not listening. I can understand if there was a rush or shortage of staff - but there wasn't.
My sausage gravy and biscuits were gluey and floury.
My eggs were overly oiled / greased and felt like thin floppy rubber. I ordered them scrambled, not drowned.
This nasty experience at a hefty price too. Sheesh. Look, you can either worsen quality, or charge more for the same quality as before. Not be pricey AND worsen.
Can y'all get yourselves together please? You're like those old, rundown huddle houses I mentioned in my previous reviews.
-------- Old Review, was four stars for me. ------ The Waycross Huddle House on Memorial Drive is an enjoyable diner experience. You have the usual Huddle House menu and good prices, but while also having good service and a nice well-kept looking restaraunt.
I've been to a few Huddle Houses, and they are usually a bit old and run down looking. However, the one here in Waycross is certainly doing a great job at keeping up appearances inside and out.
My only complaint is that sometimes the food tastes slightly burnt or not prepared how you ask it to be. It really depends on who is cooking that day that determines whether you get great food or "meh" food.
I have to recommend their Double Mushroom Swiss burger, and their Smothered chicken biscuit platter. Their hot chocolate is also great, but costs too much for one small cup of it with no refills. Let's be honest, hot chocolate is cheap to make even if using the purest form of the ingredients, which diner chains like this do not use.
In summary - usually great staff, good prices across most of the menu especially on entrees of any kind, clean and roomy environment, the food can be hit or miss but...
Read moreWe stopped on our way through town on our trip home for a quick dinner. I didn't have the highest hopes, but rolled with it anyways because we were starving and my significant other loves Huddle House. It was busy, but we were very patient and understanding because it happens. There appeared to only be one waitress and she was scrambling to keep up, but still had time for go outside and continue a conversation on and off with a random guy on and off for over an hour while we were there. An off the clock employee helped us with our drinks after double checking what we ordered since our waitress was AWOL. We placed our orders when our waitress circled back. The only thing that didn't have a complaint food wise was the waffle my child ordered. Bacon was under cooked. Loaded bacon cheese tots had MAYBE eight tots in the bowl total (unlike the menu photo where they're stacked and a decent portion for the price) and didn't even cover the bottom of the already small bowl. For almost $9 I expected something more. Mac n cheese again didn't look like the menu photo and was essentially odd textured elbow noodles in a yellow watery soup (it almost spilled when the cook placed it on the table (since our waitress was again AWOL) and i later poured the "cheese" out of the bowl when i realized it looked off and it had the consitency of water), clearly fresh out the microwave and entirely inedible. And the sausage/bacon hashbrown casserole my significant other ordered was so heavily drowned in gravy that he couldn't finish it. When it came to the table, you couldn't tell there was even anything else on the plate except a mound of gravy. Severely disappointed that Waycross didn't appear to have a waffle house we could've gone to instead and gotten food worth what we paid. I will say that the Huddle House was a nice, quiet atmosphere and relatively clean. We were so exhausted from driving most of the day that we just paid and left. The waitress was busy enough with work, as well as personal problems with the guy, anyways that we didn't even have a chance to bring up any of the...
Read moreEverybody knows, when you want a fine dining experience, you don't go to huddle house. You don't ask for starbucks at the McCafé, and you don't expect greatness from Huddle House™ where you go to just get your greasy fix of breakfast food. However, our waitress didn't give us silverware until after giving us both halves of what we ordered, and not until it was requested so we could eat. We had to ask twice for syrup for a waffle because the first time we asked, she completely ignored our table for the next 15 minutes, and finally we ordered mozzarella sticks, and it wasn't until after we finished all of our food and asked about them did she finally get them started for us. Upon trying to pay for my meal so I could finally go home, she ignored me and another customer while talking to another co-worker behind the counter for a solid 30 seconds before acknowledging that I was ready to pay. I know I'm shouting into the void and people will continue to eat the breakfast slop they serve because what else do you get when nothing else sounds good/you're hungover, but I implore each and every one of you who reads this to go to your nearest waffle...
