Big Dipper Ice Cream — Restaurant in Wayland

Stopped to get ice cream and the googly eyed lady that was supposed to serve me was just full of attitude and disrespect for no reason what so ever. I was the first customer of the day as they had just opened so there was no reason for the energy that was being presented. They were running 15 minutes behind and she told me in the most rude/ concerning way possible, respectfully I said that’s fine I’ll wait. She slammed the window in my face and cut me off mid sentence. Very poor customer service skills and as a small town business you should defiantly hire someone more reputable/respectful to take her place that knows how to be a decent human being to others. She then walked out and got into a blue truck and drove off knowing I was still sitting there waiting for service with my 6 yr old. I defiantly took my business elsewhere and will be from now on. My family and I stopped by there last night after dinner. The employees working were very kind, but let us know that they were actually already closed. As we were walking away, a woman approached us, and overheard us talking about us showing up too late. She was the owner, and insisted on opening back up for us. She just asked that we give her a few minutes so she could get her employees finished up and on their way home-they were both teenagers and it was a school night.

She helped them wrap up, then took our orders and served our ice cream herself.

We were so touched by not only her willingness to help us out, but also her care and concern for her employees. It's about $5 a head. The kids love the picture board, and they offer a nice variety. They need a second person at the counter as drive-up is a second line. I am surprised that an ice cream shop does not have the proper equipment to make malts and shakes from hand dipped ice cream! You can only get one made with the 'wanna be ice cream' soft serve. I returned the strawberry sundae as the berries were frozen and tart, and came with a LOT of juice versus a nice strawberry...
