The quality of the food at this place has seriously dropped to garbage. While I've always thought this and the Plainwell spot have been overrated for many years, our visit last night has me completely convinced only one item on this menu is what I'll ever order, if ever again.
We stop in maybe once a week or so for a pitcher and maybe food. A month or so ago we had ordered a chicken tenders with fries basket. I let my brother eat the larger pieces while I had the small bites. He legit ate one that he said was cold and the next bit into one that was still frozen. Yes, they removed it from the bill, but we're pretty much burned on chicken tenders as a go-to.
Stopped in last night since it's the only local place open on Sunday night. My brother ordered the Margherita Flatbread Pizza and I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu with garlic bread for the first time.
He said the pizza wasn't that good, but still ate it since he was hungry. I couldn't finish mine. I had two overly deep fried globs with a little bit of Alfredo sauce splashed across them. Couldn't tell there was any chicken and the ham tasted like pepperoni. I'm guessing they were so deep fried that it changed the flavor, or the oil needs to be changed. Forced myself to eat one just to absorb some protein. It's clear this garbage came from a bag and a box. The spaghetti was the best part of the meal. The "garlic bread" was a Ciabatta bun doused in garlic butter with a little time on the griddle. I ate one half and was done. So gross.
Even the beer pitchers are narrower, which also drops the value.
Now, I have to pray the Southwest Chicken Salad remains the same, as that is the only thing I'll order from this place again. If I do order.
Seriously, tho. Make sure your cooks are cooking the food properly. Test the food you buy. I get that inflation has caused food changes recently. If you're willing to sacrifice food quality for price then you decrease the value to...
Read moreI came in with my family in a Saturday around 12:30 my husband ordered a burger with fries, my son ordered a cheesburger with fries, & we got an extra side of apple sauce for the baby. i ordered the house sirloin with mushrooms and onions, which was supposed to come with 2 sides. I never got my second side, which was supposed to be a house salad, I waited and waited.. it was not busy by any means, there were 3 other tables when we got there, & by the time we left there were 2 more added. We had sat in the sports section, only saw our server to get out drinks, place our order, get our main dishes, & to cash out. I was also never given a steak knife so I had to use a butter knife to cut my steak. I had asked for steak sauce as well, which was never brought out. This was the first time we've eaten here since we moved to Wayland & we will probably end up making our commute to Uccellos in Grand Rapids from now on. I work in a brewery that serves food, so the service was unacceptable for as slow as it was while we were there. This was also the first time we've eaten out in over a year so imagine our disappointment when certain things were never even brought out. I just wanted a manager to know what was going on, because if it's like this when you're slow, I can only imagine how many people will get upset while it's a busy day. I was very dissatisfied with our experience. I just wish there would be been one person present when we were leaving so I could be spoken to a manager at the time. Everyone seemed to want to hide back near...
Read moreI stopped in for the first time on a Sunday with my family. We were seated quickly. That was last thing that was good. Our first waitress disappeared without warning. We were told kids eat free on a Sunday but later found out there were special rules. My wife and I ordered the buffet. It was OK at best. The dessert area looked good but was all gone and never refilled by the time we were ready for dessert. No new pizzas showed up at the buffet either. You also had to cut your own prime rib. The kids meals had to be ordered off the menu to be free. No problem here, at least not yet.
When you have small children a good restaurant makes sure the kids get something to eat right away. That did not happen as all of their food showed up at the same time. This was the first time we knew we had a new waitress. There was no follow up to see if we were ok or if drink refills were needed. We were looked at and ignored continuously. All the time we were ignored by our 'new' waitress another waitress cleaning tables around us also ignored us. YOU CANT IGNORE PEOPLE WITH YOUNG KIDS!
When the bill finally showed up at our request, the bill was wrong as we were charged for the kids meals. It took 3 attempts and a manager to get it right. Kids meals are only free if an adult orders a drink.
Based on less than average food and service at the bottom of the scale we will never be back. If you want to sit at the bar make sure you drink enough to ignore...
