They double booked the date of my baby shower and cancelled on me after I called numerous times to confirm date and time, as I live out of state and had to arrange travel. By the time they called to inform me of the double booking, my flight was booked and invites were already sent.
In mid-July I booked my baby shower to be held here in September. At time of booking, I said if an earlier time slot opens on that date or the following week to let me know, as I would potentially be interested in switching prior to invites being sent.
I reached out to them through Instagram, which they replied to on 7/22 and told me to call, which I did on that date. That call was to confirm no earlier time slots opened on my date or the following week, as I live in Florida and was about to purchase my flight for the shower and send out invites obviously noting the date and time. They confirmed no earlier times opened, and I was all set for my date and time slot. Great. Flight booked. Invites sent.
Fast forward to 7/30, I received a call from Laura saying they double booked the date, and I was being cancelled as I was the second of the two bookings. She said they have been trying to reach me for weeks to let me know but they had the incorrect phone number written down and had to track down my contact info. It’s important to note I called with follow up questions and to confirm date and packages three times following the initial booking. I also have an email confirmation from the deposit so they had my email, which they never attempted to reach me through, and a response to my Instagram message, which they also never attempted to contact me by. I also follow their Facebook page; another way they could have reached me.
They offered me a new date with a discount, however this date was outside of my travel window to NJ. I attempted to make it work, but the change fee with the airline exceeded the discount savings, so financially this made no sense. The only other dates they could offer me were weeknights within my travel window. A weekday evening baby shower is not ideal.
They said this has never happened before, but once is enough. I was now left stuck assisting dozens of family members in rearranging their travel, canceling their hotel accommodations, and rebooking new hotels closer to our new venue.
They refunded the deposit and, at my request, $40 to cover the cost of invites, which I thought was a more than reasonable ask. They wasted not only my time, but that of my guests. For celebrating the most important events in your life, it’s important to have a venue that is reliable...
Read moreTracey Rose I booked a seating for a total of 11. We had a 3:30 seating. We waited a half hour, which put us at 4 PM for a waitress to take our tea order. We were served our salad in a very bowl And a Very small slice of what they called quiche at 4:16. We had a three tier serving platter on our table that only had two plates the entire time, (The third plate stayed empty) and neither plate was full enough for 11 people. That was served at 4:38. At 5:04 they served finger food less than a 1/4 cut in 1/2 sandwiches (which I was told when I booked it we were having adult size servings throughout the sitting) All the Sandwich pieces had stale bread. Again, only two dishes on a three tier serving in the middle of our table. There was clearly Not enough food for the 11 adults. At 5:14 PM they put two dishes again with little pieces of a brownie tiny little bite-size pieces of a cookie with bacon, and little round cookies with pumpkins on them. They were stale. At 5:23 my sister-in-law went to get off her chair and the Chair broke, and she slid halfway on the floor and onto me sitting next to her. I immediately got the waitress and handed her the chair over the table. There should have never been a broken chair at the table to begin with. At 5:27 we were served a cobbler which was raw. By 5:31 Laura (I think that’s the receptionist name) Told us they are getting ready to close. When I booked this reservation, I told them this was a small baby shower for my daughter. Immediately we had to start opening presents because we were being pushed out of the restaurant. They were literally cleaning the tables around us with disinfectant cleaner and sprays. The service was horrible as we waited for water on the table, it took the waitress over an hour and a half to bring a picture of water and two glasses. Mind you there was 11 people at the table who wanted water. We also asked for refills on two pots of tea, And never received them. I left. They are paying almost $500 and everyone was disappointed with the service and the snacks they served. I would Never recommend this place and I will never go back there. The management should refund me my money because everything was horrible. We all went home hungry and very frustrated. We all took pictures and I could back up every single time that I Posted above. Pictures don’t lie and I...
Read moreI wanted to like this place but the food fell short. I’m a big tea person so I came here for Mother’s Day to celebrate. It is $50 per person, children are $25. You get 2 sandwiches which were the size of my pointy finger (really small) I got cucumber and chicken, the cucumber slice was chopped so thinly I could barely taste cucumber or cream (uh cucumbers are not expensive) the chicken sandwich tasted good. The tea I got ginger something) horrible. Why because I could tell it was from a tea bag. I did not come here for teabag teas. This should have been brewed from fresh herbs, and because it was not it tasted week more like flavored water. The sweets were below par, 1 macarons, 1 soft cookie, and a tiny piece of brownie. The only thing that seemed fresh was the brownie the other 2 was stale. The scones were the worst, I couldn’t understand why it was so chewy and would stick in my teeth (I’m in my 30’s in case you’re wondering) I could not finish it, but took it home and decided to put it in my toasted oven. Yep it was undercooked, it was not raw but it tasted like cookie dough and the scone was white not a tad brown with colour. Since it was my day I just didn’t want to complain. 1 star for ambiance. Not sure why this is so highly rated. For $50 dollars per person this place does not live up to the high ratings. I will be going back to NYC next Mother’s Day for Alice tea, much better tasting teas, tasty food and bigger...
