This was my second or third visit to Waynesboro. Today, I sought this place out because it was so good the first time I visited. They have amazing and healthy street tacos, with fresh cilantro and onion on top and a generous slice of lime in the side. The steak is a very high quality. He should totally raise his prices. Inflation, srsly. $2 is cheap, especially for the value. I brought my daughter with me this time. We cook and eat a lot of Hispanic food (there are a lot of healthy, fresh options that we enjoy from the cuisine). She didn't want to eat her third taco though because the green salsa was so hot for her. I am pretty sure that was the more mild option. She can't enjoyably eat spicy things. However, she wanted the salsa because the taco didn't have much flavor otherwise. Maybe we could have been more targeted with the lime but we were preparing it in the car, rather than the other option of eating outside in the middle of December. I love it though! The meat was tender and lean, all of it fresh in a white corn tortilla. I could have drank that salsa and my lips were burning a little after I had been dipping my tacos in it. So good! I didn't mind the burn; it was short-lived and I really like the flavor! I ate that last taco, four in total. I came back over and gave him our only cash, two dollars and would have tipped more if he would have given me a receipt to sign with a tip line. I will definitely go there again when I am in Waynesboro at lunch time. I'll find another option for my daughter (or even bring a...
Read moreWe had Alex's Tacos come to our wedding in Staunton to set up as a late-night treat for all of our guests and it was an absolutely amazing experience!! They're obviously a small taco truck operation and I'm not sure how many private events like this they would normally do, so it wasn't a classic, standard wedding vendor experience in the lead up, but man, did they deliver! They were on site perfectly on time and ready to go and we go only rave reviews from everyone about the tacos and tamales. We had friends there who are food elitists and other friends who used to live in Mexico City and every single person was amazed at how good it was!!
I actually pride myself on how well I do carnitas, but their carnitas tacos blew me away. If you've only ever had junk like Chipotle carnitas, you haven't been eating carnitas, you've been eating bland pork. Alex's makes this stuff so legit that I got upset that I was so full I couldn't have another.
Thank you Ana and all the rest of the staff for making our wedding truly memorable with your incredible food. Every trip back down, we're definitely stopping over to...
Read moreWell, a friend always raved about the place, and today I decided to give it a try while I was in town.
I have to say, I'm not sure if you all have no taste buds or I just somehow got the 1 in a million "off day" burrito.
Mine was so bland and had no taste at all. I mean really. I had so high hopes for it. But feel it was a huge let down.
Don't get me wrong, I usually would have just ate and went on about my business, and maybe tried again. However, I only ate half the burrito and decided I really just didn't want the rest of it because there was absolutely no flavor.
There is another food truck in a nearby town that has been amazing every time I've ever eaten there, you can taste the cilantro, the onion, the sauce, etc, there is actual flavor.
Not trying to put Alex down, I just was completely shocked the difference between the 2 trucks and their...
