It wasn't the total lack of customer service that encouraged me to leave early. It wasn't even the disgusting seat and table at my booth, that seemed to need a brillow pad and an exorcist to clean it properly. It really wasn't even the gobs and gobs of grey chicken and brown broccoli that seemed to be staring at me from the buffet table, practically daring me to put them on my plate. No, it was a six-legged messenger from God, who in his own special way showed me what I needed to do.
I didn't notice him at first. I had just finished my first plate of soggy noodles and crunchy brown rice when out of the corner of my eye I saw movement. He came from somewhere behind the soy sauce and sugar packets. My first reaction was to smash him using the bottom of my plastic plate, but it was the look in his tiny insect eyes that told me he meant no harm. He slowly walked closer and closer to me. He wasnt afraid. He scampered past my napkin, and practically ignored the little crumbs of food left on the table from 3 patrons ago. And it was then and only then that I realized he was there merely to deliver a message. He was there for a higher purpose. He had a message to deliver. He wanted me to leave.
Yes, I understand he can't speak to me. But I swear, he seemed to be beckoning me towards the front door. As he crawled past every tiny bit of grey food scraps ignoring them. I realized something, he had no interest in the food. His tiny eyes stayed fixed on me. He seemed to be saying, "I'm not hear for the food, I'm only here to warn away those who have made a terrible mistake by attempting to eat here. Do yourself a favor and leave before its too late."
Message received. I stood up, walked over to the angry looking woman behind the plastic force field she was hiding behind and paid my $10. She reached behind her into the Hefty garbage bag full of fortune cookies and offered me one. I politely declined and instead headed for the door. But before walking out, I gave one more passing look to a place I would never visit again. I also wanted to give my thanks to my new friend, my cockroach buddy who encouraged me to leave. He was like my Jiminy Cricket, my conscience if you will. He gave me the strength and courage to walk out when I did. Yet, I could not see him. He was probably crawling over to the next booth to warn another group of patrons from making a grievous mistake. He was doing what God called him to do, offering those other unfortunate customers the wisdom that he so graciously passed on to me.
Saddened that i could not thank my new friend one last time, I turned to walk through the greasy front door. As I pushed the door with my foot I could swear I heard a tiny voice from somewhere in the restaurant say, "make sure to buy two-ply toilet paper before you get home. You're gonna need it."
He was...
Read moreThis place is HORRIBLE. Horrible staff, horrible service, mediocre food at best, it ALWAYS leaves me with a naseous feeling or other unmentionable stomach pain 😖. I've given this place a chance one too many times. The staff never greets us, they seem like they're annoyed any time they have to deal with customers, and they just give off a "leave me alone" vibe. Yet here we are paying you! One girl who was running the cash register will not even look at you and just throw your money in your hand. The only nice people here are the cooks who come out to replace the food every so often. They ALWAYS say hello, yet the OWNERS give their customers...
Read moreThis is a small place, probably one of two chinese places in the city center of Waynesboro,Ga. I will say if you absolutely have to have buffet then go with the country cooking buffet down the street. I have never had chinese food turn sour on my stomach before until this restaurant. The lighting is poor, the service is poor, the selection is small. The food was hot and the bathrooms were clean. I would recommend trying the chinese take out place in the city around the corner from Pecan Row! It is not buffet but it is well worth it! Eat at your own risk...
