My family and I were half way home from vacation and needed to stop for something to eat. We looked up places in Weed, California and decided on Ellie's Espresso & Bakery based on the reviews we saw. We arrived shortly before 5pm. We were the only customers. The place looked comfortable and clean. We ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 cappucinos. My wife had a Tomatoe, Avocado and Sprout sandwich and I ordered the roast beef. 4 bites into my sandwich I bit down on something very hard and broke off 1/2 the top of my tooth. The staff seemed unconcered about this and tried to distance themselves from me ignoring the fact of what they had just served us. Not long after an gentleman who seemed to be in charged arrived and the staff told him as I did what just happened. All they offered me was to make a replacement meal, as if their obvious lack of concern and apparent poor quality control would lead me to take another shot at their obviously poor service. Oh, and those 2 cappucino's we ordered? The waitress brought them to us and informed us she had used a different type of milk on each drink even though they were supposed to be the same. And they tasted like the worst drip coffee my wife and I have ever had, so much for cappucino huh? The frosted sugar cookie we had bought for a desert for my daughter... she took 2 bites and said she didn't want it because it tasted "funny". So, after $30 worth of broken teeth, drip espresso and a complete lack of concern for breaking my tooth, I felt it was my duty to let the public...
Read moreIt used to be my favorite spot. I used to recommend this place to everyone that would listen. It used to have fresh pastries and great coffee. So it really hurts my heart to say the following about a local business. But enough is enough! Management and owners all have been contacted about the following situations from multiple people in the community..... For some reason they got rid of all their old staff (not my business because I am not management nor am I an employee) but the new staff is just low speed with lots of drag. I will only list a few of the problems I and many others have experienced in just the past couple months....... Sweet pastries have tasted like onions and bacon, the coffee is now ALWAYS bad, the Baristas (clothing is not professional and usually dirty) were NOT knowledgeable in the products/procedures, and now it takes forever to get anything you order AND..... when you do get your order, it's usually wrong. I don't know what has happened in the past several months but these guys really need to get their act together because I and many other locals have literally stop spending our...
Read moreThis is such a cool little restaurant and coffee shop. The people who work here are so friendly and helpful. The barista gave me such a mouth-watering description of the breakfast sandwich, that I had to get it. And that breakfast sandwich is so delicious! They use high quality cheddar cheese, and cheddar cheese is my favorite. One of the nice touches is they have a lot of art from local artist Lee Weber. Actually, this place is kind of like a Lee Weber art gallery, which is awesome! He makes great paintings of Mount Shasta, which is probably one of the most interesting mountains around. They have free refills on the drip coffee, which is delicious. They also have coconut milk, soy milk, and almond milk. My only complaint is that it's a little hard to tell when they're open, since their neon sign is a little hidden by the window. They're also one of the few establishments in Weed that can stand on their own without a kitschy name that's a reference to the town. The decor is also great, because half of the tables...
