Charming, friendly owner. Pains me to write a 3 star review butâŠ
Came in, so many good options that I didnât know what I wanted. Owner walked me through the three that I was thinking about and decided on steamed catfish wrapped in leaves. It was supposed to come with glass noodles, but he asked if I wanted rice. I thought that was a bit odd and asked about the glass noodles⊠To which he said they were mixed in with the fish. Ok, whatever you recommend. I assumed rice would accompany an entrĂ©e. It almost always does.
Entrée came; at first glance it looked pretty basic. A plate of plain rice, and wrapped leaves with fish inside, nothing else besides herbs. No vegetables no garnish which is odd for Vietnamese - usually there are some fresh components on the plate (herb, sprouts, or veg). The fish WAS excellent but definitely needed just a touch of moisture/flavoring... I requested Nam Prik Pao - at first I was told no, then I could make my own, then the kitchen made me one. Took the fish to another level it needed. I was happy.
When it came time to pay I did a double take on my bill. My entrĂ©e was $12.99, but my bill was $21. Turns out, they charge five dollars for a small side of rice. Five dollars for rice. I felt slightly deceived; and I shouldâve known better I should take responsibility for everything I order. I guess I would just expect transparency in a situation where normally rice is included, if itâs not you are aware and itâs never $5. Especially when there were other specials on the menu that...
Read moreI did a take out order. The chicken fried rice has great flavor and had a good amount of veggies in it which was a nice surprise. The yellow curry was great as well. And the spring rolls were fresh, the peanut sauce was forgotten. The taro boba was delicious and refreshing, not too sweet.
The only reason for not being a 5 star, is that when I ordered and did the math on my own I was expecting around $33 bill and it came out to $50 somehow with service fee, card fee, etc.? That was not with tip- $58 with tip. I didnât pick up the order so I wasnât able to see why it was so much. So just check the amount charges. Other than that, great food and...
Read moreAmazing little unsuspecting gem in Weed, CA. This is some of the best food I've had while living in Siskiyou Country; I would say it's easily the best food in the county. The people who run the place are very friendly and personable and their kids, who were hanging around, are so cute and were well behaved. I got the yellow curry tofu and the flavor was amazing. My husband got the spring rolls and papaya salad. All his food was so good as well. My husband ordered the papaya salad spicy and it was truly spicy but with lots of flavor. We will definitely be back! Happy lunar new year to the owners and...
