First of all, I wanted to point out that when we got there, there was a 45 minute wait to be seated, and we waited 20-25 minutes outside in our car until a worker came out and asked us if we were the party of 6 for the name **, so already off to an amazing start. So, 2 friends, my brother, my sister, and I all went down to this place for a “kids dinner”, and I think that the waiter I had at this place was the GREATEST WAITER EVER. He was very cheerful at the start, cracked some jokes, told us the usual. Then we ordered, I can’t really remember what all of us got, I do remember it was delicious but that’s not the point of the story, but when my brother ordered (he’s 13) he ordered a CHEESEBURGER… at a MEXICAN RESTAURANT, all he wanted was a cheeseburger, and we all stopped talking and just looked at him, like, what else are we supposed to do. Then the waiter sat down next to him and said something along the lines of “dude, you could order ANYTHING on the menu, and you choose the least Mexican one. We only have that on the menu for 1 reason, 8 year olds that can’t seem to get their tiny minds wrapped around the concept of non-American food.” Then when he came out with our food, he hesitated to give the cheeseburger to him, my brother said that burger was one of the best he had ever had, and that’s saying something. The waiter came back a couple times to check on us, which was nice. But the 3 or 4th time he came he sat down again next to my brother and told him that he was sorry about how he treated him, then he said “ you see that guy sitting at the booth over there? (For context it was like a middle aged guy wearing a beanie) HE just ordered a cheeseburger aswell. See? Some older people have the same problem as you and those other 8 year olds, you’re never alone in your feelings.” My brother laughed and then the waiter said, “Wait. Is that your father?” And then walked off laughing. Let’s just say that he got a...

Driving home to Idaho from Seattle, my sister and I were craving Mexican food. We found great reviews on Trip Advisor for La Fuente in Wenatchee, so we drove 80 miles out of our way to have lunch there. Well...... We arrived at 1:30 and the place was PACKED; a good sign since there are at least 5 other Mexican restaurants in the immediate area. We were seated right away in a nice booth, chips and salsa delivered post haste. The salsa was a CRUSHING disappointment, so I wasn't holding out much hope for a good meal.
Enter Alex, our "Guardian Server"
I asked Alex if there was any HOT salsa available and he actually went into the kitchen and personally created one of the best salsas I've ever eaten! Phenomenal! They definitely need to be serving this as their standard salsa. This was in addition to the dish of cabbage salsa (?!) that came and was SO good we were eating it with forks instead of the chips.
I have been seeking out and enjoying restaurant food for over 50 years and I can't think of a more attentive, accommodating, personable and passionate server that I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. (Did I mention that he was completely adorable? Kudos, kudos, kudos to his mother Olivia for raising such a lovely, charismatic son with such a brilliant work ethic!)
We ordered verde burrito, tamale, enchilada, rice, beans and margaritas...everything was exceptional. Even the guacamole that Alex brought was FANTASTIC and neither of us even likes guacamole! The meal was capped off with some lovely little fried flour tortilla points with whipped cream and strawberry drizzle. What an exceptional experience!
Thank you La Fuente for a terrific meal, but my eternal thanks to Alex, for making the meal such a memorable experience. (High five, fist bump!)
Even though we live 150 miles away, we will...
Read moreGreat Job! Seriously, in the world of sub par service these days you guys nailed it. The place was packed and now we know why! The food was amazing and service was even better. Not only was our server SO personable but the entire team of people working were so in sync.. our server was getting slammed and the other servers came over to take our orders. It was honestly so refreshing to see a team of servers work so well together. None of them were bitter or pissy. We aren't from here, we came to visit family, two people recommended this place to us. Bonus.. the cabbage mix they bring with the salsa is one of my favorite snacks a place where we are from used to make it but have gone out of business. I was thrilled when they brought it out! The only thing that could make the place better would be those pinwheels, orange colored.. not sure what they are but they're deep fried, crunchy dosed in hot sauce! Other than that.. ...
