Lion's Choice - Wentzville — Restaurant in Wentzville

I've never been to a Lion's Choice before, but this place was pretty good. I guess it is a St Louis and vicinity thing. I had just dropped someone off at the airport in St Louis and was beginning my 3-hour drive back home. I have seen signs for Lion's Choice before, but never stopped in. I knew they offered roast beef, so I thought maybe they were something like Arby's. Maybe they sort of are, but I actually think they are a bit better, at least for the roast beef. This seems like genuine roast beef 🍖, rather than processed and re-pressed beef. I had an Italian beef sandwich. Being from near Chicago, I have high expectations for Italian beef. This isn't going to be your Tony's Italian beef (like back home) but it was better than you would get most places. It was a good size and very satisfying sandwich. Are you going to get great Italian bread with this? They tried. The fries were excellent, as well. Looks like they also have a Cubano sandwich, which I was very tempted to get. Next time. I also liked The selection of condiments, including pepperoncini, jalapenos, pickles, onions, Chipotle mayo, ketchup, mustard, etc. For fast food on the road, this place was quite good. I may mention that they didn't seem to have a restroom. At least not for customers, so far as I could tell. The place was reasonably clean. The young man behind the counter was fast at taking my order but he needs to speak up, that's the reason for the 3 stars. The place is like an Arby's. I ordered for a King roast beef meal and it looked like a regular size. If they king size fries, that were like a small, I guess the small is really small. Update 7/12/23: I decided to give this place a second chance an I ordered the King roast beef meal again and it looked the same. I'm not sure how many ounces goes on it but the way it looks in the pictures is very different than what you get. The sandwich looks like it's smashed. I'm not sure if I need to add more meat to make it look as thick as the pictures. The sandwich from Arby's looks the way the King roast beef looks like in the pictures. My drive-thru experience...I went here after taking my dog to the emergency vet due to her having something in her stomach that the regular vet couldn't get out. I placed our order with a pleasant employee, then proceeded to the drive-thru window. A different lady took my payment and I politely asked for au jus. After my anxiety fueled day, I had forgotten to ask. The lady looked at me like I just slapped her grandma, proceeded to yell loudly to the staff that she needed au jus, then tells me that I need to do that when I place my order and that the condiments are free.
