I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Dana and Maddie at a wedding they and their incredible, fun Team catered at the charming Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. this weekend. Not only were the pizza's unique and AMAZING, but the spring leaf, pea, asparagus with fetta salad itself was SO refreshing and delightful!
Along with the DELICIOUS food, they gave a simple sidewalk a cozy, rustic, and inviting feel in how they presented the pizza line.
For me personally, none of the above matters if there's no great customer experience that comes with it, and I gotta say EVERY Flour Girl & Flame employee went above and BEYOND for not only the wedding guests but for the ENTIRE wedding event! I saw first hand the genuine willingness one of the workers had when offering to make a special glutten free pizza for a guest. In another instance, a guest mistook Dana as an Anodyne worker and handed her plates to be cleared. Without hesitation, and with a genuine smile, Dana took the plates and carried them into the back. Everytime I crossed paths with a worker, or saw them engaging with the guests it was always with a genuine smile.
Now what put their customer service for the event over the top, deserving MORE then 5 Stars is their genuine willingness to simply help. Yes, just help. After the team was finished setting up outside, Dana saw myself and the Anodyne team rushing to finish the reception room set up and asked if they could help. It was FAR from an empty invitation... Dana genuinely (see a theme here...) wanted to help make the event perfect! Dana and Maddie jumped in and helped, sacrificing their own down time before making numerous pizzas for the event. I was extremely touched, impressed and truly grateful for their tremendous kindness... I could not thank the Flour Girl & Flame Team enough!
DELICIOUS FOOD INCREDIBLE...
Read moreWhat a cute little shop. VERY homey, farmhouse style decor. They have one table that seats eight which they call their "Community Table," and the rest seat 2-4 people. If there is a wait for a table, they have a cozy couch area for comfort. They've really created a wonderful atmosphere.
The service was outstanding. The young lady providing our service was so friendly and kind. They've cultivated such a warm ambiance that even when there was a glitch, all was right with the world. Being my usual brainless self, I have forgotten her name. I really need to start WRITING them down. I get so involved with the food that other details get pushed aside. Shame on me.
Speaking of the food. SO delicious. Wednesday is their Detroit style night and the people who ordered pizza loved it. One ordered the Baddie, and two split the War & Pineapple. They are large and like me, the one who ordered her own, loves leftovers. I didn't go with pizza. I dined on two appetizers instead. The Loaded Focaccia Sticks, and the Bourbon BBQ Wings. The sticks are just amazing. They are LOADED with pepperoni. Little ones, but LOADED. They come with marinara for dipping but no need for it. The flavor is so good that I found the marinara actually detracted from the wonderful flavors already included. The wings a really meaty. No baby chickens used for these. The sauce has a little kick, but not too much. I like bleu cheese as a dipper with BBQ wings, but they only have ranch. Hang on. They have several different types of ranch - even have a flight so you can try multiples. I opted for the peppercorn and it was just a fabulous combination with the bourbon BBQ wing sauce. I only ate half of each item and brought the rest home, along with dessert: BB Cakes Brownie with a scoop of Mint Chip. Very rich. Had a few bites before bed.
Can't wait to do this again for...
Read moreExperience was a true mixed bag. We ordered several pizzas, wings, a salad and cheese bread for a party. Delivery was cheerful and on time, food was hot, well-presented and looked delicious. Here's the thing, though: Nothing was quite as expected. Two pizzas should have been very simple pepperoni pies. These showed up as pepperoni with pickled peppers and oyster-style mushrooms topped with arugula. Another was a strange combination of bacon and vegetables, while yet another featured the mushrooms, breakfast-style sausage and sliced potatoes and more arugula. None were truly bad. The 12" pizzas were far more food than the usual 12" individual size. The crust, puffy but substantial with quite a bit of char on the bottom, was excellent. Some of the party were slightly put off by the non-traditional sweetness of the added honey. And why were the pies much more complicated than ordered? Mistake? Or an intentional upgrade from what the pizza maker considered too pedestrian a choice, which didn't turn out to be an upgrade at all? Moving on to the other foods, wings were as described and quite spicy. The sous vide/wood fire cooking left them juicy but an odd pale color and slightly too moist on the outside. Cheese bread had too much cheese for the amount of bread which left it a little soggy. Salad was fairly good but included roasted rings of what appeared to be kabocha squash. Interesting idea but bogged down the greens by the time it arrived. Overall, 5 stars for effort and top quality ingredients, 3 stars for end result. TL;DR: excellent choice for foodies, not so good for when you just...
