This is one of those places that is unassuming, but delivers more than you bargain for. Eni at the front/cashier was warm and welcoming right off the bat, took our order, and offered us cups for water after we ordered without us having to ask. It always feels like I’ve been a burden by asking for water and not paying for a drink so it was a small but hospitable gesture. The food is made to order, I had a chorizo burrito and my partner had a chicken bowl. With those two items and some chips and guacamole the total came to $32 and change with tax. Not inexpensive, but food is expensive these days as we all know, so as long as it delivers on quality I’m ok with it. I really was just expecting a quick and convenient “taco place” lunch but the food was really spectacular. They make the chorizo in house and it’s absolutely delicious. Chips are slightly greasy but they’re an outstanding texture and there’s plenty of them. Eni also offered us some little sides of their salsas which are also made in house and so fresh and delicious and I gather they offer them for free, so work that into the $32 and I think it’s a good deal. They have a spicy red, mild green, cilantro lime, and honey chipotle and all of them were awesome. My partner said the bowl was a little short on rice, but she didn’t even finish the bowl… both portions were well worth their price. The place is clean, the people were friendly, the food was up in less than 10 minutes and was delicious. There’s no reason to go to chipotle when this place exists and, I believe, is locally owned. I only gave it 4 stars on atmosphere because there just isn’t much to it - Nice big mural on one wall and like I said it’s bright and clean, but otherwise pretty industrial/minimal....
Read moreMy companion and I paid a late night visit. The establishment was nice, clean and well lit. We placed our order with a very kind gentleman and waited. He went on to take a few more orders. All was well until I saw the same gentleman handling food. Yes he had on gloves but I saw him unintentionally wipe his nose with the back of his gloved hand. I watched as the other fellow prepared my companion's burrito and the very kind gentleman proceeded with my tacos. My honey said that his food was very good. He really enjoyed his meal. I didn't touch those tacos. I hated to waste food but I was grossed out. Overall, I believe this to be a solid establishment with good food. The prices are a wee high but nothing to scream about considering the location, convenience and quality of food. The wait on the food wasn't bad so the very kind gentlemen could have just stayed on register. I understand that he likely wanted to help and move things along but it truly wasn't necessary. Please be careful with this...
Read moreI really like Big Wig Tacos. It’s my third time there. This time I ordered the Chorizo Burrito, it was very good with just the right amount of delicious fillings. I ordered their Horchata for the first time, it had the right amount of sweetness. It has a sweet milk taste similar to a vanilla shake.
My friend ordered two steak tacos and she raved about them and she is a picky eater. We shared Guacamole, we ordered two orders because the container isn’t that big, they serve a good amount of chips with it and they were still warm letting me know they didn’t come out of a bag.
The restaurant is very clean, including the bathrooms. The counter person was friendly and helpful and the owner came around to introduce himself. It’s mostly a pickup not a sit down restaurant. I’ll be back again. It’s easy on the bus, take the Milwaukee Ave #56 bus and get off...
