Brown's Soul Food — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

My mom and I stopped in today after church. She got smothered turkey wings with string beans and dressing. Everything looked so good, bur all I tasted was her dressing. It was as good as it looked. I was in fish fry kind of mood so I had fried catfish with meat spaghetti, potato salad, and an additional side of greens. You get two filets and they are big, very meaty, well seasoned, with a light breading that gets perfectly crispy. The spaghetti has just enough sauce, the potato salad had eggs in it(as good potato salad always should), and the greens were flavorful with a kick. I got banana pudding, too, but haven't eaten much of it yet. From what I can tell, it's light on the bananas and heavy on the cookies, just how I like it! While we did take our food to go, there is plenty of seating available and the set-up is really nice. The staff is sweet as pie! Absolutely stellar experience from start to finish! I had been seeing this place for a while and finally had the chance to stop, and I’m glad I did. Even though it was busy and my first time, MeMe made me feel so welcomed. She was patient and gave me samples of everything to try before buying without me even asking. Now tell me that ain’t exceptional customer service. Everyone behind the counter was pleasant, friendly, and welcoming too. The place was clean and inviting. My smothered pork chops, dressing, greens/cornbread, mac&cheese, sweet potatoes, potato's salad, n don’t forget the peach cobbler was FIRE🔥. The food was fresh, delicious and flavorful. They got them hands, I’m definitely returning and recommending this spot for some good ole home cooking just like Big Mamma...

Only open on Sunday's. We dined in, the "wait" wasn't long at all. Very unsatisfied with our food. It was 6 ppl in our group. Within our 6 we had the smothered porkchops greens, Macaroni, fried chicken, rice & gravy, sweet potatoes, dressing, pot roast & potato salad. The best was the pork chops.
