10/14 @ about 815PM // IM DRIVING FOR DOOR DASH) HIGHLIGHT*: Terrible customer service. I waited for about a minute at the empty cashier. Finally a woman comes, clearly impatient. She was rude the moment I walked in, didn’t greet me, didn’t respond to me when I told her my orders, leaving me to wonder and wait for the status, then proceeded to text while on her shift, then clearly made me wait longer after prioritizing a plate of food. I’ve never eaten here and I never will, not with this nasty customer service. We all have a job, you’d think people would be respectful of that, but she was not, she’d rather me wait for her to finish her personal conversation.
(FULL CONTEXT) The restaurant was empty when I arrived (I’m driving for DoorDash) I arrived and waited at the cashier for about a minute until a woman came I told her the orders I was picking up. She didn’t say anything. Then returned to whatever she was doing before. She was texting on her phone behind a shelf. I waited. Then she said something to the only other person in the room in Spanish essentially saying someone else was asking for food to be extra hot, they were laughing together. So I spoke up and said “are the orders ready?” She said “yea” and went back to texting quietly. I paused and I said “okay so do you want me to wait for you to finish texting?” she said “what?”, I repeated myself, she said “you could wait”, I said “ for you to finish texting?”, she said “I’m the one that’s giving you your orders”, I said “yeah but your being really rude and you literally want me to wait for you to finish texting” she repeated herself and I gave up and said “okay I’ll wait”. I looked at the receipts that printed next to the register to try and get her name but the girl in the room said “what are you doing? Your not suppose to touch that” I said “I’m trying to get her name” she said “you could just ask her” so I did, she ignored me. Then she took the food out of a warming fridge (dropping one of the containers in the process) set it on a counter disappeared and came back with a plate of food, which she then went and delivered to someone in another room. Read moreCarbon, conveniently located just two blocks from my apartment, has proven to be a noteworthy spot for taco enthusiasts. My initial encounter with the front house staff left much to be desired, but the quality of their food is what keeps me coming back.
A few months ago, I walked in with high hopes for a satisfying taco meal, only to be met with a less-than-welcoming vibe from the front house. The staff, particularly the girls at the front, were far from friendly or accommodating, making me reconsider dining there at the time.
However, my opinion changed drastically a few weeks later when a co-worker surprised me with two steak tacos from Carbon. Those tacos were a revelation. They were generously filled with tender steak, fresh cilantro, and onions. The flavor was exceptional, and the packaging ensured they arrived still warm. My co-worker also brought a side of rice and a substantial portion of salsa verde, both of which perfectly complemented the tacos.
The quality and taste of the food were so impressive that I've decided to make Carbon my go-to spot for tacos. I genuinely appreciate the quality of their offerings and would recommend them to others without hesitation.
Unfortunately, I must mention that my attempts to dine in person at Carbon were met with the same disappointing front house service. It's disheartening that such excellent food is overshadowed by lackluster service. If the front house staff is consistently unenthusiastic or unfriendly, it may be worth considering a change.
In summary, Carbon deserves a solid 5/5 for their delectable tacos. The taste and quality are outstanding. However, the front house staff's service still leaves much to be desired, earning them a 1/5 rating. I hope that improvements can be made in this area to make the overall dining experience at Carbon truly...
Read moreI have started saving this place for bad days/special occasions because the prices have gotten so crazy, but the food is still pretty good. This is the second time in a row they've messed up my order (which for them, means a big swing in price if you're ordering a "special" vs basic meal), so this time I called to have it rectified. Probably won't go back after this, seems scammy...
I paid for a $16 burrito for pick up and when I got home I discovered that the burrito they had given me was the $12 standard steak burrito. Not the end of the world, I order the stelote cause I like the way the make it but the steak burrito is still good. I wouldn't make a fuss if it weren't a $4 difference to my order for freakin' elote. I called to ask if they could update the order and offered to send pictures of the receipt we had vs. what was printed on the bag, a stelote burrito vs. a "stelote burrito, no elote" (literally that's what it said on the receipt... why would I or anyone order the more expensive steak & elote burrito then say no elote?). The woman who I spoke with said there was nothing they could do.
