I just dined in with the family for dinner today. It was a terrible, terrible experience. I had called ahead of time to check if they cuchifrito, they said yes. I totally freaked out when I was served some whole pig ear. Told the waiter cuchifrito is cut up in small pieces not a whole pig ear. He offered to retrieve it back, no apologies, he just took it away. I then decided to order tostones rellenos with shrimp and octopus in garlic. Wow!!!! I was served just shrimps no octopus. I called it to the waiters attention. He said “oh the cook forgot the octopus”. he proceeded to charge me with no apology. Fried pork meet was flavorless, the shrimps were not fresh shrimp, they very tiny and had to be caned or frozen shrimp and they were super chewy. Just terrible. I told him I was not happy with our dinner, and he had the nerves to sarcastically tell me have a good day, how dare he get bend out of shape when they messed up my dinner order and tried to serve me whole pig ears as cuchifrito. The fried pork was over fried very dried and did not taste like anything. They do mot know how to cook with the criolla flavor like us real Puerto Ricans do. Our food contains a lot of flavor. Very disappointed and I will never ever go back there again. They were very good when they first opened but not anymore. 10/03/23 @ about...
Read moreIn all my existence on this earth, I have never had a greasier, saltier plate of food in my life! This is probably the only time I've included a photo of the food for a restaurant I've reviewed because I wanted readers to see just how excessively greasy this food is. I've have had Puerto Rican food from many places (US. & Puerto Rico) & this is an absolute ABOMINATION to the cuisine! I have never been served a BRIGHT YELLOW pastel in my life, let alone one that tastes & feels as if it's been cooked in lard & salt...no seasonings, no spices... NO green bananas or plantain....nothing! And the rice that accompanied it??? Just as bad! My blood pressure & cholesterol levels most likely sky-rocketed from just the one bite. And yes, after said one bite, the rest ended up in the trash. Avoid this place at ALL COSTS, if you value your health & taste buds. ANY item from a place as subterranean as Taco Bell even surpasses the food at this...

2 cream coffee 1 negro coffee for me
Mofungo fried carnitas was so Amazing the pork was so crispy just the way I always dreamed about. The mofungo had shredded meat in mine so good. Came with a lil salad & some broth to cleanse the palate or dip my crispy pieces of pork in.
My sister ordered the pasteles plate & the rice & beans was so amazing as well as the pasteles filling!! So many childhood memories from my friends inviting me over for this food.
My bro had the steak/onions mofungo plate the meat was so tender, the onions were so buttery and sweet.
I ordered the jibarito Cuban as well because why not!!
We had to walk around Humboldt Park to walk off our meals!! Pure joy...
