2 stars for good service. It breaks the heart of this local Puerto Rican to have to call this restaurant a gentrified representation of Puerto Rican food. I felt no love in any of the products I ate.
I ordered the stewed beef with arroz con gandules. the beef lacked seasoning and seemed kinda old. The rice was inedible. It was literally uncooked. To make matters worse there was no evidence of sofrito, sazon, or adobo. Those are the love ingredients. That rice was heartless. It stole my soul.
The tostones were too sweet. Please stop using plantains that are not green. And where was the sauce? Please don't tell me that oily bland garlic in a tiny cup was the sauce?..JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL..YALL TRIED IT TODAY.. Thank God for hot sauce. Plus the tostones were soft stop putting them in foil..you put them in Styrofoam and open the corners to let out the steam..omg..please fix that.
The alcupirria was just this mush of plantain that once again wasn't green enough. No seasoning again. Speaking of seasoning there was zero salt on the tostones.wth...thats insulting.
The empanadilla (pastellito) was this huge massive dough and like one spoon of poorly season beef..damn can y'all at least put potatoes..potatoes are cheap .or make it the legit bocadillo way...come on y'all plz do better.
I'll be back soon tho bc I support local business and maybe today was just a...
Read moreWent here on Father’s Day to pick up food. Called ahead and when we arrived the food still wasn’t ready and there was a long line. A homeless man was standing inside asking politely if anyone could help get him something to eat. Myself and another woman agreed to get him food. When we walked up to the counter he ordered a steak sandwich and the woman behind the counter said they were all out of bread. They didn’t offer to put it on a platano or offer anything else. They simply dismissed him. I asked him if he wanted some of the alcapurrias or pastelillos or anything else and he picked a couple of smaller items that they couldn’t say they were out of because they were on display in the case. When we got home the food tasted old. Granted we did order closer to their closing time, but my jibarito was not great. The platano was rubbery and hard to bite through, plus it was beyond greasy. Not sure we’ll be visiting again. Their behavior and their food left...
Read moreHorrible customer service!! 3 stars because the food is really good. We went today Saturday 12/19 at noon. The lady in the front had the nastiest attitude. We are Mexican and love the Puerto Rican food we've tried. Since we are not too familiar, we asked about the food items they had in display and she seemed to be getting more annoyed after every question. Two girls (who I think were Puero Rican) came after we ordered, and it seemed like the lady who worked there was a completely different person. She had the nicest attitude and was super friendly to them. It seemed that she had known them forever. I think her attitude was because we didn't know what we wanted, because I really don't want to think her attitude was an...
