They have a very interesting lineup of drinks. I got the cardamom latte. At first, it had a weird aftertaste, so I asked if I can taste the cardamom syrup by itself and decide if I wanted them to remake the drink or just order something else. They graciously accepted my request. I decided to reorder the same drink but with less espresso. I don't think cardamom and espresso is a good combination because the espresso is such a strong flavor. For my meal I got the jerk chicken wrap. It had a lovely cucumber yogurt sauce. However, it needed salt. I also think the yogurt sauce would be better with properly spiced jerk chicken. Because cucumber is so refreshing, it needs something to refresh. I didn't think the wrap was spicy enough to balance the cooling agent of the sauce. So I think the sauce can end up diluting the overall flavor of the wrap. I liked the addition of pineapple and pickled onions. I left full! I will definitely come back to this place. I know I can have a $25 healthy meal with a specialty drink, sandwich, and chips. It's good for something traveling on a budget

This little haven never bores me! We travel from Indiana and make sure we stop here ALL the time! Their brunch is top notch with impeccable taste and presentation! Today’s brunch fresh bakery items of spinach feta scones and bluberry coffee cake left us wanting for more. Fresh scones with a buttery crunch in every bite! Moist crumbly and creamy blueberry! And it doesn’t stop there! The spicy shrimp grits hit the spot with tang, slight spice, buttery and gooey deliciousness. The yogurt granola was light and crunchy with absolute balance of sweetness. The scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection! Huevos Rancheros was the limelight with the crusty, flavorful goodness! Oh I can go on and on! Coffee - the iced Lavender latte was BOMB! All in all HIGHLY recommend. This is a hidden star amongst the glitzy brunch spots in Chicago! Absolutely no wait, usually get to sit in 5-10 mins over the weekend! That’s because of quick service.

I had a Turkey Reuben Sandwich, it was very good with thinly sliced quality turkey, kraut, Swiss cheese and delicious Thousand Island Dressing on perfectly toasted Marble Rye with chips. Check my photo of the Reuben, it’s probably the best photo I have taken of any sandwich My friend ordered pancakes with mixed berries on the side (a skimpy portion). She said that the pancakes were a little overdone for her and she asked for another order, they were very nice about it. The staff is friendly and willing to please. The restaurant is very airy with well placed tables and chairs. Nice patio as well.

I discovered this place last week while I was walking my dog with my husband. We loved it because it was one of the only restaurants that actually had the patio opened at 10 am on a Friday. The service was amazing and everyone was helpful. The server suggested the crab cake sandwich (it was the best sandwich ever) and even suggested a chicken breast for my dog. I loved it so much that I would give it a 5 star.

The fallowing day I decided to go back for that amazing sandwich and I brought a long one of our new clients to talk about her new line of dog products. Since everything was so perfect the day before I figured why not. This time we arrived at 12pm and the patio was not all the way set up. We went inside and asked if they can set a table for us. I figured it’s 12pm on a Saturday, they should have the patio up already all the way. The lady who attended us was a older blonde lady with a pony tail and she seemed very nice at first. Once we told her that we wanted the corner table set up she automatically became very rude. She acted as if it was very hard to do. I felt insulted and embarrassed especially infront of my client. The patio had 2 other tables being used with dogs. We wanted the table far in the corner because one of the dogs was barking very loud and we did notice want our dogs to be a distraction. The lady really wanted us to be seated next to the loud barking dog. As a customer I expect to be treated with the up most respect. It’s really a shame because I truly love this place and it’s food. We ended up going to a patio next door and I was very unhappy because I really wanted that crab cake sandwich.

I don’t understand what her problem was, but it really changed my view on that place. I’ve never felt more disrespected in my life. I know it’s not a big deal but coming from a family that owns servers restaurants in Chicago I understand the importance of...

Via Reddit: On Tuesday [August 9, 2022], approximately half of the staff at Milk & Honey staged a walk-out.

About a year ago, the previous (and wonderful) owner of Milk & Honey Cafe sold the place to a new owner, based outside of Chicago.

This new owner, and the new manager at the time, proceeded to turn this amazing restaurant into a shell of what it used to be.

Recently, staff were told that they were "all [*] replaceable" when FOH asked for higher compensation. The owner outright ignored staff, refusing to make eye contact or speak with several of the employees. They didn't give notice to employees when they decided to close the restaurant on July 4th after that manager quit. They referred to female staff as "silly" or "emotional girls."

After the manager quit, the owner began a search for a replacement. Apparently he wanted to hire a male manager, because a man would be "more chill." The man they hired proceeded to not show up for scheduled shifts, leaving FOH staff working solo for hours at a time.

If you are looking for a place to eat, or looking for a foodservice job...please, do not go to Milk & Honey. While many of the staff that remain are wonderful people, the current owner of the cafe does not deserve a single cent of your money, nor a single minute...
