Funny that I have always cycled down Division Street, but never noticed Fatpour Tap Works. My visit here was for a Yelp elite event and boy did I anticipate the event after taking a peak at some of the pictures posted on Yelp. Why? Because I'm a fat kid trapped in a skinny man's body! That's why! Hehe.
I had a great time at Fatpour Tap Works, the waitress Tawni was fabulous and very knowledgeable about any item on the menu. Prior to ordering my food, I had an Allagash White, which was a drink that I saw someone else having so I figured that I would give it a try. As for my food, I wanted to get something different from what was featured in the Yelp pictures, so I ordered the Trainwreck Grilled Cheese w/ Crispy Brussel Sprouts, which the Crispy Brussel Sprouts were a recommendation by Tawni. Not bad, but if I were to order again, I would add them with some cheese dip, which would top them off definitely. FYI, if you are not a fan of spicy foods and decide to order the Trainwreck Grilled Cheese, I recommend removing the giardiniera relish unless you want a burnt mouth like I got. Other than that it is tasty, but I wish I would have known about the giardiniera relish taste because I could not enjoy the sandwich to the fullest.
Ehem! Even though I'm not a University of Wisconsin Badgers fan, but I'am a die-hard college football fan, I got the college football environment vibes with Fatpour Tap Works having that Badgers flag plastered at the entrance. Yuck! I'am 217 born & raised, so go University of Illinois Fighting Illini!
I'm quite positive that now since I have visited Fatpour Tap Works, I will take notice of it while cycling down Division Street. As for a future visit, I'am highly interested in visiting on a College football weekend because very few places give off vibes like I have experienced at Fatpour Tap Works. With that being said I hope you all enjoy, and I hope this review assists you in any...
Read moreYum. love the place, frequent it often, originally landed 5 stars, but.... loses a star, briefly went to the bathroom, and my 20 dollar beer was missing...I had already paid and tipped, this makes chad grumpy chad. Makes someone wish they could un-tip, but its too late. Almost posted a stop payment on the beer with the banks, but didn't want the drama of missing out on my favorite local fat-pour... I guess I've had 4 good memories for every 1 bad one. It's a bar called "fat"-"pour" , what can you expect.
Future advise: Don't throw away anyone's beer while they are using the rest-room, if its 50% or 20% left, if they pay 20 bucks for it, they want the last 20% trust me. They want the last 30%. Even the last sip is worth 4 bucks. If there is more than 0% left, or they hand it back to you, don't touch that person's drink. Was really looking forward to it walking back from the bathroom to put my coat on and leave, and came back to my chair like, what ? where's my beer? "oh it looked like you were almost done so..." She gave me 0.2 oz taster of something totally not as good, which was completely foam, and pretended to apologize, then walked away to cater to wealthier guests. Understandable, I won't deduct all the stars, she pretended to try, replacing my beer entirely would have been proper service, but that would require admitting mistake to management, as it was a top shelf beer in a bottle. I'm sure there's a tally on those. In conclusion: Poor lives matter too, yall. That 5 bucks should have been deducted from the tip in my opinion, and might have to be, upon on future visits. sorry, not...
Read moreI have also been disturbed by the “what have you tapped lately” slogan. It seems a little objectifying and euphemistic, even if it’s truly about the beer. I also only saw the logo “what have you tapped lately” on the back of waitresses’ shirts. Did I misperceive this? Do the male waiters wear the slogan as well? I’m just curious...
I think youre right that we only saw a small percentage of the staff. Maybe the situation isn’t so much about what’s going on (how many POC you’ve hired, how many women are working), but being aware of how a business is coming across to its customers. I understand - I’m also a business owner.
There’s a lot of social changes going on in our country, we all need to be a little more aware. We can all stand to be more open minded and careful in our communication skills. To be honest, I thought your response to Ralph’s review came off more passive aggressive and personally attacking than his review.
Also, are you feasibly opening an invitation to local customers for your staff meetings? I’m not being sarcastic, I just want to know. I’m going to email y’all right now! I live in the neighborhood. I’d like the local businesses, especially bars, to represent and respect women better and be mindful of misogynistic bar culture. I’m sure other locals would like to get involved. Let’s...
