Firstly, this is a no-frills diner and at my visit did not allow any dine-in option though there is room for counter service. But besides that, their famous corn-beef sandwich rivals some of the best deli spots in Chicago. Dont overlook their breakfast sandwiches, their fried egg sandwich with bacon is really well made and they dont skimp on that bacon. This diner is not in your upscale neighborhood, but its really quite a hidden gem in the city. Just have to understand this long-standing diner was here well before the nearby gentrification by The United Center.

My dad has been taken me here for many years when I was a little girl to get Moon's famous corn beef sandwich but I got to say I also haven't been there in about 10 years. I was craving a corn beef sandwich this past weekend so I decided to go there. Of course I got the sandwich and it was just as I remember very tasty and outstanding. A bit pricey for one sandwich though and they don't give you a lot of meat like they use to but it was still worth getting. I recommend trying the beef sandwich if you're ever in the area.

This restaurant have been apart of our life since I was a little girl.me and my family we two restaurants like vianna it's was a orange building and other was kfc. And reason why I said that because me my family's live in Rockwell garden project in mid 60'.I remember coming from church with our parents.I was 6 year old and I ask my father can he to take me to moon restaurant to get a ice cream cone and he did and we took the elevator down stairs. And got off the elevator and walk down two streets and we when there It's a lot of people black and white. And the owners know our father name Wesley Kimble but the owner call our father mr Kimble. And I ask our father how he the owner know your name and our father said I here regular. And I was surprise because the owner was white. And the owner waited on me and my dad.see that time it's was prejudice but the owner wasn't prejudice and me my dad sit down enjoy ice cream cone and the owner said come back again and my dad said ok we will. The last time I visit was 2005 my nicece in law in invite me to with to visit the old neighborhood on west side and I said OK and I did . I walk down street and that Rockwell garden project was gone they build a rehabilitation center and new Rockwell garden apartments building. And the old post office is still there and I went to moon restuarant I walk in every thing looks the same went I was a little girl and I sat down look at menus and I couldn't decide what to eat the men behind counter said to me take your time and I ask ok . And I decided to eat breakfast pancakes and bacon and coffee and all the such the man wait on me ask me a question he said to me you look familiar and he said me what my last name I said my last name is Kimble and he said me are you related to Wesley Kimble I said yes I'm he youngest daughter and I said he why and he told me that he remember my father come there with me and I how is that because he my father wait on you and your father and you wanted ice cream cones and he said he was a teenager and his father own moon restaurant. I enjoy the breakfast and paid my breakfast and he told me that's ok it's on the house and he told me come back again I will and I did come back and I ate breakfast and lunch their and offer to paid he told me again that's on house and I decided give a big tips. I since I move to western suburbs in Napervile and I haven been there in long time. But I going this Thursday mid day just to see my old neighborhood and old friend and specially my favorite restaurant....

Ordered ahead on Grubhub and didn't start my order til I came to the pickup time. I wanna assume it's due to being under staffed and having other orders to deal with.

There is a sign that says "no mask no service" and they don't enforce it consistently. One worker asks a man trying to come in to stay outside. The customer didn't have his mask on. He just had it in his hand.

Later he persists and just walks in and no one behind the counter says anything, despite the sign posted.

Social distancing and masks aren't enforced. This is concerning. Customer safety isn't prioritized as much as it needs to be here. They seem to just give up after being pushed around a bit. It doesn't take much to break the rules here.

There was another customer who had no mask on hand and was next to the entrance making it impossible to social distance. He kept blocking the doorway too but the workers don't say anything. They just kept insisting I come inside. Clearly my safety isn't a priority.

Only one man was really enforcing it but he wasn't always around to be at the entrance. This hard working man is spread thin and it's unfortunate that his coworkers don't consistently enforce the expectations like he does. It's no wonder some customers will follow the expectations and some won't. Consistency is key.

The cashier is definitely aware of what is going on but just continues his work ignoring it all. "You are why people don't want to give business to restaurants. All you care about are appearances and just care about making money regardless of who's safety is compromised. Shame on you!".

I’ll wait when you actually know how to enforce masks and social...

The day before yesterday I went in to get my elderly mom food because she love this place. I waited approximately 30 minutes (which is normal time for this place) as I was waiting a guy came in ticket number 157 & they gave him a sand which which he didn’t order. I was curious to see what they would do with the old sand which because they should’ve trashed it because it left the building. The female staff consulted with the owner and it was mistaken 167 for 157 which was a delivery order. She took the sandwhich out rewrapped it, put it in a new brown paper bag with a napkins and something else then stapled it with #167 on it & put it where delivery orders go. I immediately confronted the owner and asked him “so you really gone give that to someone after he just bring that back” he responded in a smart manner. And said “it haven’t went out yet” but it did! He should have immediately trashed it but he didn’t. He allowed his staff to rebag it & put on the side where the delivery orders go. I demanded my money back after waiting 30 minutes. That could’ve easily been someone my food. That was...
