I’ve ordered from King Wok four times at this juncture, twice via grubhub and twice using their website. “Standard” take out fare, but to give them credit—the ingredients appear and taste fresh; portions are very generous; the food is made well; and it reheats nicely. I generally get small additions (ex. adding pineapples to a combination fried rice etc.) and ytd, they always call to ensure my order is correct. They have never messed up an order nor has anything been missing upon delivery. It is packaged well and I’ve not had issues with spillage. Orders always arrive before the estimated time.
I feel some poor reviews stem from delusional people who feel an Asian take out restaurant is supposed to be Sunda or Pingpongs. For the type of establishment they are, I feel they easily deserve four stars. I did not give five because of inconsistency with a dish I love, lol! The first time I ordered their bbq pork tenderloin, it was (surprisingly) a strong 8.5— the meat was moist and deliciously tender with just the right amount of sauce. The last two attempts at receiving that satisfactory salivation have resulted in pork jerky drenched in an obnoxious amount of sauce. It’s been so tough, it has not been salvageable. I’ve had to chuck it. With my star bias shared, take my demotion with a grain of salt or heed it and avoid the bbq pork tenderloin. I’m not going to risk ordering it again. They have plenty of other choices and that is the only thing I’ve had that’s yielded extreme disappointment.
Also please note, that each order has been made to feed 2-3 others and myself. While there have only been four orders placed, each has resulted in a large “buffet” style variety overtime. So yea, a bite of the bbq pork jerky from multiple mouths and it was spit into napkins and the whole thing trashed. Everything else has been just what we wanted... because sometimes you just want White Castles, Waffle House, and...
Read moreI stopped into King Wok, after an instant craving for Chinese food, after getting off of work. With Chinese restaurants, I always take several minutes looking at the menu's, but always order the same thing, hehe. Go figure! I seem to always get either the orange chicken, sesame chicken, or chicken fried rice. King Wok was no exception because I went with the sesame chicken, which was good as expected. I tend to go for the non-spicy foods unless I'm sick with a fever, but that is a whole different story.
This place was super cold inside during my visit, and I remembered thinking to myself its colder in here than it is outside, which it was. It also reminded me of a conversation with my ex-girlfriend who is Filipino. I remembered her telling me that the Chinese were really cheap, which made me smirk because I realized that they probably had the heater off to save money, which is understandable, but seriously! I'm sure that this place isn't struggling financially, so come on King Wok, stop playing with us. I'm sure that once summer weather arrives it will be blistering hot inside because they will have the air conditioning off, but we will see.
Anyway, I'm quite positive that I will return because this is one of the only Chinese restaurants I'm familiar with, plus the prices are reasonable and its in an area that I regularly visit. Parking is no issue because King Wok shares a huge lot with several other...
Read moreWe have waited for an hour. Called the restaurant they told us to call back after another 15 minutes. The lady who answered asked for the number connected to the order, we gave our mobile number which she found in her system and located our order. After 25 minutes we called back. Again gave our mobile number and again she located or order. At this point she transferred us to the delivery driver who proceeded to scream at us telling us he called us a large number of times. We have no calls. He then tries to accuse us of lying and not answering our door. As he continues to shout, I asked for a manager. All the while the delivery driver is shouting in the back. The managers name is john and to his credit he calmly explained their system had a completely different mobile number. Which is odd to me seeing as they have twice looked up our order via our mobile number and we have ordered there many times. John however then accused us of giving the wrong mobile number, despite it having a different area code and not a single digit similar—and again their ability to look up our order via only the mobile number. I am sickened by the fact a delivery driver shouted at us then proceeded to accuse us of lying for what is clearly a system error there. Do not order from them, they do not deserve...
