Very tasty food that isn’t pricy and is very filling! We got the Sausage Stick-Bokki which was my favorite of everything. The sauce was delicious and the rice cakes were crispy on the outside, which was a little different texture than the rice cakes in the Rosé Cup-Bokki and that was cool to use the same thing differently. The sauce in the Cup-Bokki was great, not spicy if you aren’t a fan of spicy but lots of flavor - almost like a red curry flavor but mixed with a creaminess like alfredo sauce. Then we got the Gamja and Injeolmi corndogs, both half n half mozzarella and beef sausage. They both were great. The Gamja we added spicy mayo and it was like eating crunchy french fries on the outside of your corndog. The Injeolmi was slightly sweet with the milk glaze and the powder was a unique flavor. We also got a Strawberry Bubble Tea with strawberry popping boba, it was very fruity almost like a smoothie with the chunks of strawberry in it. Everything came out to be a little under $50.
It’s very clean inside and there isn’t a lot of seating but the tables have cute stools and they have a cool mural on the wall. The decorating is simple but nice. The staff were friendly and the food didn’t take too long, and was fried fresh. This is a fun spot to try, even if you just stop by for a snack like the...
Read moreA pretty new, hyped up spot on Wicker Park's Milwaukee Ave serving a solid range of classic Korean street food staples. It's counter-serve, and the interior is decently spacious, but there aren't too many tables in total. It can get kind of pricey if you're trying to have it as a full meal, as the portions are pretty small / snack-sized. But the prices are reasonable-- everything below cost ~$38.
My friend and I tried the following items: Rose Cup-Booki: Big fan of this one; the flavors were strong, the textures were soft and creamy; delicious all around.
Injeolmi Corn Dog: Got this one with all beef sausage-- I liked it! The grainy flavor was pretty distinctive.
Hot Cheeto Corn Dog: Got this one with all mozzarella-- the hot cheeto flavor wasn't as strong as I expected, but it was pretty good still with the sweet and spicy mayo flavors pulling through. As a whole, the corn dogs are better than Kong Dog (my only point of reference lol).
Original Stick-Bokki: This was pretty good too-- the texture is tight and sticky.
A lot of people do takeout here, so we found a seat pretty easily on a Sunday night. The food was pretty slow to come out though. Overall, I was a fan and would come back to try the other stuff on the menu. They have a good amount of vegetarian...
Read moreI've had a lot of ddukboki in my life. I grew up in Koreantown in NJ. Mom would make it too. Nobody beats mom's, but this place blew me away. I ordered the regular ddukboki and it's made to order. After a short wait, I had a portion I wouldn't mind sharing for a little snack. Spoiler alert, I didn't mind not sharing. The dduk (chewy rice cakes) was noticably fresh chew, the odeng was particularly delicious and the sauce was sublime, not too spicy, not too weak. Just right. They were so kind too, people I would love to support with my patronage. Maybe a family business? Idk, but they were super friendly. They had an extra corndog they just gave to me on the house, my first ever Korean style, so no basis of comparison. I'm not sure which kind was because I didn't order it. It was SUPER crispycrunchy panko(?) breaded and fried with a delicious sweet and savory sauce, maybe mayo based. Hotdogs I tend to be picky, and this was good quality, not the usual corndog. Overall the best quality street food type Korean food I've come across in Chicago....
