My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Park Hyatt Place Wicker Park, where we encountered the fabulous front desk person, Dolores.

From the moment we arrived at 6:00 pm, Dolores made us feel incredibly welcome. She even had the keen eye to compliment my Disney Villains T-Shirt, demonstrating her impeccable taste and attention to detail.

Our room, number 819 on the 8th floor, exceeded our expectations. Judy, Dolores's supervisor, made a wise choice by securing this corner room near the elevators and ice machine. It was situated in a quiet area of the hotel and offered a fantastic view of the downtown area with skyscrapers. If my partner and I ever return to Chicago, there's no doubt this will be our room of choice.

One of the initial reasons we chose this hotel was its remarkably reasonable pricing compared to other options in the area. It was also our first stay at this establishment, and I must say it won't be our last. We were in Chicago for my partner’s business conference and choosing this hotel was the highlight of our trip.

During our stay, we ordered Chik-Fil-A, and Dolores went above and beyond to enhance our experience. Not only did she promptly inform us when our food arrived at the front desk, but she also provided us with extra sets of cutleries. This considerate gesture revealed her exceptional customer service skills and her thoughtfulness in anticipating guests' needs.

I'd also like to commend the cleanliness of our room. I'm someone who brings a blacklight flashlight due to previous hotel cleanliness concerns. To our delight, even under scrutiny, there were no concerning dirtiness or stains to be found anywhere. This speaks volumes about the hotel's commitment to maintaining clean and sanitized rooms.

Throughout our four-day, three-night stay, Dolores consistently demonstrated efficiency and attentiveness. She willingly accommodated our requests for additional supplies, ensuring our stay remained enjoyable. In one instance, she even went the extra mile to locate more facial wipes for us, a gesture that truly exemplifies her dedication to guest satisfaction.

Their breakfast offerings were also phenomenal! The selection of breakfast items was adequate, and the dining facilities were always kept in a pristine state. The attendants during breakfast were always cleaning the tables and making sure that tables were always sanitized – which we really admired.

Now, let me address a few minor observations that didn't detract from our overall positive experience:

• We appreciated the electric shuffleboard in the lobby for guests, but it might be better placed away from the reception desk for a more relaxed experience. • A quirky note: If the art in the living area were a mirror, you could easily watch shows from the bathroom toilet – just a fun idea! • The presence of a bathmat in the bathroom was a nice precaution, although the shower already felt non-slip. I admire this small safety precaution. • The bathroom taps seemed a bit short for the sink, causing the sink to frequently get wet. Extending the taps could prevent this issue. • While sleeping in complete darkness, the green light from the modem was quite bright. Hiding the modem better could easily address this minor inconvenience, especially for those who prefer total darkness. • We also liked the complimentary apples in front of the elevators. One thing that I would suggest is to move them to a better place where they are not exposed to the sun throughout the day – just as a minor suggestion. We enjoyed the apples regardless.

In addition to Dolores's exceptional service, I'd like to thank Judy for selecting such a wonderful room for us. Overall, our experience at Park Hyatt Place Wicker Park was made memorable by the outstanding staff and their commitment to ensuring guests have a fantastic stay. We truly look forward to another outstanding stay the next time we are in the...

I’ve stayed at many hotels over the years — including several Hyatt properties — but never have I encountered such disgraceful service as I did at this Hyatt Place. This location has completely shattered my trust in the Hyatt brand, all thanks to one person: Glenda, who referred to herself as the front desk lead on May 24th.

At check-in, we were given a card stating we would receive two bottles of water daily as part of our loyalty benefits. Seems simple enough, right? Apparently not at this location.

The worst part came when my parents, who were also staying at the property, politely asked Glenda for the water we were promised. Not only did she deny them — without the slightest courtesy — she did so with an attitude that was cold, unapologetic, and completely devoid of professionalism. This might fly at a Motel 6, which frankly seems to be the level of service this Hyatt Place aspires to.

Glenda’s behavior was repeated, deliberate, and totally unacceptable. If Hyatt believes this is what hospitality looks like now, they’ve clearly lost sight of their brand’s standards — or simply no longer care.

To anyone considering a stay here: don’t. You’d get better treatment at a roadside budget motel. At least there, you wouldn’t be insulted while paying...

This hotel was a fantastic find. I booked it through work expecting a lesser experience but was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was all kind, helpful, and quick, the rooftop bar was a great spot to relax and take in the city skyline, and the room was large, clean, and comfortable.

A couple shout outs, Nicole on the rooftop is fantastic to chat with and very attentive. She had me laughing, learning, and enjoying a “Chicago handshake.”

There was a housekeeper that saw me on my way out on the third floor today. She asked if there was anything she could do to make the rooms better. Saying it’s her goal to ensure they are perfect for her guests. I was very impressed by her but missed her name. When I honestly said there was nothing she politely said if I think of anything to please let her know. That’s someone I would 100% want on my staff.

The location was also wonderful, with lots to do in a walkable area, and relatively quick access to other parts of the city.

I gave the rooms 4 stars only because there is some hvac or water noise that is relatively continuous. It’s a lower hum, but noticeable when the tv is off. Earplugs are provided in the room, but it wasn’t bad enough to need...

WRONG FAUCET This hotel is very stylish, and the bar/lobby has a lovely view at night. The bar staff are knowledgeable, and eager to please without being pesky: a rare balance. The breakfast buffet is free. One or two oddities: Lobby is on the 7th floor. In the elevator, key cards must be held against the reader for a surprisingly long time. Daily housekeeping service is mandatory, and you will receive a note if you leave the Do Not Disturb sign up for 24 hrs or more. The tall, short-nosed bathroom sink faucets are designed for bowl type sinks, not sunken types. Water splashes all over the vanity no matter how carefully one washes up. Use your hand to squeegee after every use, and use a towel to mop the floor. This is not the first Hyatt Place we've encountered this problem, which means headquarters failed to product test before ordering thousands of mismatched vanity-faucet combinations.

We stayed here for a few nights and it was great until yesterday morning when we were woken up by a crashing sound around 7:30am, only to find that one of the bath room glass shower doors exploded and littered the bathroom with glass. We alerted the front desk and were told that the maintenance man would be there by 9. We said that was unacceptable and asked that we move to a new room since the bathroom was unusable. They switched our rooms fairly quickly. Fast forward to check out this morning and they are charging us $300 in property damage. We were asleep when this happened. We never even received an apology and now they’re charging us for something we had nothing to do with. Somebody better make this right and fast. We will never stay here again, and I will post this review all over the internet. Make this right!
