We had dinner on june 22nd at Taxim with our friends who are visiting us from Boston. Our experience was very disappointing but mainly our waitress(who said she has been serving there for the past 7-8 years) was extremely rude the entire time. There are multiple things she said was very offensive, bossy and rude but mainly two things surprised us the most. We asked for Rakı or Ouzo and she brought us the drinks. We noticed they were not Rakı or Ouzo because they wouldn’t have the anise taste first of all, nor the drinks would turn white after adding some water (which they should). After 30 mins or so that she came back we told her that these drinks weren’t what we asked for, she said without hesitation “but you drank it anyways right?!” which was extremely weird. When we arrived she told us she needs to take the whole order at once because she is busy and can’t take multiple orders. We ordered 3 appetizers, one bowl of soup to start with and octopus and lamb chops. The soup would never arrive. We told her later when she came by that they forgot to bring our chicken soup and she said “i’m sure we did not forget it!” (as if we are lying, and went quickly to the back to check with them instead of telling us sorry etc. The lamb chops wouldn’t arrive for 90 mins, and we had to leave at 9pm to get to another rooftop reservation that we had for my husbands birthday , she said she has to charge us the lamb chops anyways, she said we can wait for it to be ready in a “to go” box if we want. The whole experience was very weird and disappointing.. Food was mediocre, but service was terrible and we did not have a good time. No one deserves to be treated like this, and especially on a special day that we had guests over for my husbands birthday. We will not be...

I will never recommend this place again. i was in charge of planning restaurants for my family of 6 people for a weekend of wedding dress shopping! I chose Taxim for May 10, 2025 because of a good experience there in the past.

1. Our waitress caused our table to way overorder, because she insisted over and over thay we weren’t getting enough food. She described the halloumi as a “small snack” and insisted that halloumi plus two other small plates for one person was not enough - we had to order big plates. Almost all of us ordered our own halloumi assuming it was a “small snack”, which it is definitely not. Came with pita and everything. we had a TON of extra food that guests couldn’t take home because they were from out of town and a mountain of cheese. It was a huge waste. The waitress was clearly just trying to get us to order way more than we actually needed.
2. we wanted to order a bottle of wine and asked for a dry red. She picked the most expensive red on the menu and i said no, so she let us taste a bottle that was open. It was corked. She then told us it was “just funky” and laughed. It was not a dry red, so we picked something ourselves as her recommendation was clearly about price instead of what we actually wanted.
3. the waitress messed up our order, laughed at us, and blamed us? Two people ordered the octopus and she only brought one. When we asked about the other one she laughed and told us she was the one who took our order and only one was ordered. I myself heard both people order the octopus. She didnt even try to bring it.
