Chicken Shawarma over a bed of rice and lentils with a side of hummus and Jerusalem salad - Delicious, wholesome, and done just right. -The chicken - Appropriately spiced, nice and crispy on the outside and soft from the inside. -Rice and lentils - Arguably the best part of the whole meal, grain sized, lightly spiced; tasted soo good with the hummus. -Hummus - Creamy, tangy and fresh. -Jerusalem salad - A mix of diced cucumbers, tomatoes, and parsley mixed with tahini, olive oil, and lemon juice. Tangy and refreshing. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 An ideal workday lunch spot - Quick, cheap, healthy and delicious. A no-frills, counter service eatery. And, there are so many options to choose from. Everything from their deliciously comforting yellow lentil soup to their rice and lentils to their spinach pies and smoky baba ghanoush is soo good. Their salad bar is another option - dolmas, stuffed eggplant, marinated artichokes or mushrooms, steamed Brussels sprouts, and roasted red peppers, in addition to the raw basics. 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 A sure shot bang for your buck. Plus, the food is delicious. We cannot recommend this place enough. Caution: Don't expect fancy interiors or table service. Just saying. .

I tried Sultan’s Market for the first time last week when we ordered take-out for my friend’s birthday picnic. The food was generally quite good, with a couple exceptions. The pita was the best item we ordered - light, fresh, and fluffy. The rice was great too. I enjoyed the falafel and the hummus as well. However, the vegan cookies were dry and flavorless. We ordered both types of vegan cookies, and they were both disappointing. My friend and I also wanted to order dolmas, but when we looked at the ones at the salad bar, they looked crushed and unappetizing. We decided not to order them. Overall, the food was satisfying, and it would’ve been exceptional if it weren’t for the dolmas and vegan cookies.

This might be my favorite Mediterranean place in Chicago. We ordered all four of their dinners and every one of them was excellent. The Chicken Shawarma was tender and not dry at all. The Lamb Shawarma was the same. The Kefta Kabob had great flavor to it, and the Falafel was crispy and well spiced. I loved both the yellow rice and the lentil rice, and their Hummus and Baba Ganoush were both amazing. The only thing we weren't a fan of was the Couscous Salad. Portions were huge. We are usually hungry people that find that most places (especially in Chicago) leave you a bit hungry - but we were stuffed after eating here.

Sultan's Market is an absolute gem! I can't say enough good things about this place. From the moment I stepped in, I was warmly welcomed by the friendly staff and the inviting ambiance.

The food is absolutely delicious! Their Mediterranean cuisine is packed with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. I was blown away by the wide variety of options they offer, from mouthwatering falafel to savory shawarma and their delectable hummus is a must-try!

Not only is the food exceptional, but the service is top-notch too. The staff is attentive and always ready to assist with any dietary preferences or questions you may have. The atmosphere is cozy, making it a great spot for a casual lunch with friends or a family dinner.

The portions are generous, and the prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality and taste of the food. I keep coming back to Sultan's Market, and each visit is as delightful as the last.

If you're a fan of Mediterranean cuisine or simply looking for a fantastic dining experience, I highly recommend Sultan's Market. It's a true culinary delight that will leave your taste buds dancing and your heart full. This place deserves all the...

I despair. I’ve been a neighbor of this institution for decades but it has just become intolerable. First they ditched their wonderful Jerusalem salad. Then the sandwiches were made upside down, they stuff the cucumber, tomato and onion, with a ladle of tahini in the bottom of the pita, then top it with dehydrated shawarma or felafel, so you have a swampbottomed sandwich to grease your palms after you’ve chewed through the spectacularly dry meat or felafel. I still try to support them, but it’s getting tough. I loved them for maintaining a salad bar through the Global Pandemic, but I am horrified by the stuffed grape leaves they try to sell now, with repellent globs of congealed oil clinging to them. Were they frozen and thawed? They look disgusting. Just wholesale buy them fresh for heaven’s sake.

Why does everything great...
