I honestly don’t know how this place manages to stay in business. My husband likes their food and we try to support their business but they aren’t open for dine in, never answer their phone, don’t have an answering service or way to leave a voice Mail, and their website doesn’t allow you to order from their website. It always just provides an error message. Unfortunately it’s just too difficult to try to give this place business.
Edit: I really appreciate the restaurant’s response but my review was a not a one off. In the last 1.5 years we have had issues with orders where they either left out an item (and when we sent an email we never received a response), have struggled to place orders on multiple occasions because they don’t answer their phones. The food is good hear but since it’s so difficult placing orders or knowing when they are closed (they don’t update their website), I still feel that getting food here is just...
Read moreIt's hard to find a good Indian restaurant. When the food is expensive (and let's face it, Indian food has become expensive! Especially when they charge you for rice and naan on top of the $18-$22 entree!!) you want to get good food. Vajra is great Indian food. It is not too spicy (my husband can't handle it) but it has good flavor.. and sometimes Indian restaurants can't separate the two: SPICY does not equal FLAVOR. Vajra is able to do this and to top it off their meats are soft and tender. I hate paying $60 for chewy meat. Also, their meats are cooked into the sauces which is important bc then it is a dish, a lot of Indian restaurants have their sauces and then just dump their meats into the sauce minutes before you get it served and you can tell the difference! Their Tikka Masala is great, their biriani is excellent and their samosas are delicious. This is the Indian food that Chicago has been needing. Can't...
Read moreSo maybe this place was hyped up a bit too much and that's probably why I didn't think it was as amazing as everyone else did. The food was just good. That's it. It's maybe my fifth favorite Indian restaurant within the city and it won't even stand up next to the ones in the suburbs. That being said some of the dishes were pretty well done, like the Chaat, the goat Momo's, the Paneer Tandoori, the Gruyere Cheese Naan, and the Shahi Korma. I think the Pistachio Paan Kulfi wasn't even good though. That is not what actual Kulfi tastes like and adding paan to if did not make it better. And my friend said she's had better Kulfi from Costco. The ambiance was nice, the service was excellent, and the drinks were okay. I would probably give this place a 3.5, but I'm...
