i am honestly shocked this place has 4.7 stars. i went here with my partner on juneteenth and the service was horrible. i donât know if the bartender was new, but they were giving out misinformation - also a margarita was $14 for a drink mix, that was grossly sweet, with a 2oz pour of tequila (which the bartender shorted because i could see the jigger pour). we asked the bartender if we could order the tacos we saw on the sign outside for $2.50 and they told us to order online and the discount would apply. before checking out, we asked again about the deal because it was still not applied in the check out - but they assured us it would be taken off afterwards. it was not. we told them the discount was not applied so they said we had to talk to the walk up kiosk in the back to get it taken care of.
my partner went to do this and the conclusion was that the manager wasnât in until sunday, it was thursday. so they asked my partner to write his number to give him a call. when he came back to the bar, the bartender asked us if everything was taken care of and we said no because there is no manager. and they said âoh yeah the manager isnât here until sundayâ with a chuckle⊠i told them it wouldâve been nice to know before we purchased our food that the discount would not be applied - especially since we asked twice before checking out and was reassured by them. the bartender just looked at us and barely apologized. needless to say, it was not taken care of, which i fully expected as the outcome
as someone who was in the service industry for about a decade, this definitely took away from the whole experience - the back and forth with the bartender, my partner physically getting up to fix their mistake, the bartender acting like itâs not a big deal and barely apologizing. just bad customer service. interrupting time i could have just had with my partner because the bartender didnât know what was going on. not even offering a discount on our check, not offering a drink or even taking a drink off the check. it couldâve been prevented by us just going to the back kiosk and ordering there in the first place, but the bartender encouraged us to order online. or rectify the issue in another way.
not sure if this is a guest bartender, but wow they really did not know what was going on and looked nervous to just pour a 2oz shot and an already mixed drink for guests. the food was decent, at least - but with so many great restaurants with great service around this area iâd definitely spend your hard earned money...
Read moreCame here for the churros, ended up having some food as well.
When we entered, a gentleman came up and told us we could have a seat at any table and use the QR code on the table to place our order (you also pay at the time you order).
Once we sat, we began looking at the menu on our phones, and the gentleman brought us a basket of chips and some warm (temp) salsa. He also told us we could grab other salsas from the salsa bar (next to the actual bar). My partner enjoyed the warm salsa, while I enjoyed the salsa verde (from the salsa bar).
We then placed our order: 1 Al pastor taco on corn tortillas 1 Korean taco on corn tortillas (w/ a side of queso 1.5oz) Churros with sauces on side
My partner ate the Al pastor taco on corn tortillas. He said, as far as Al pastor goes, itâs one of the best heâs had. The pork was perfectly seasoned, such that you could still taste the pork. It wasnât overcooked; it was still juicy. And the pineapple was really flavorful.
I had the Korean taco. The meat was flavored well and there was a good amount of it; they didnât skimp like some places do. The jalapeños and cabbage on top added a nice crunch.
I ordered the $2 side of queso (1.5oz) to try it, because we didnât want a full meal, but I love queso. Fortunately, we still had some chips left in our basket to eat the queso. The queso is super thick, stringy, and tastes good. I would definitely order a full size next time.
The churros came out nice and hot, with the sauces in the side as I had asked. Although the menu says they are followed with cajeta, the gentleman said they are not. But there was some sort of white filling inside. At first, I thought it might be cream cheese, but it didnât taste like cream cheese. It also didnât taste like vanilla. I really have no idea what they are filled with, but they are tasty. I love cajeta, and so thatâs the sauce I used, while my partner used the chocolate. We both enjoyed the churros and would definitely get them again. They are the perfect amount to share.
The gentleman serving us was very kind.
The place looked clean, but there was a slightly strange smell. It might have been coming in from outside, Iâm not sure. That was the only negative. Everything...
Read moreWe got there and the first thing that hit me was the toilet smell. I shouldâve left by then but we saw the great reviews and wanted to try it out. The waitress was nice and said to pick any seat, there was no one in there but when I tried to pick a seat the benches all had long hair so I dusted it off first. Tables were al not wiped. Well once my friend arrived we ordered the food, my friend also ordered the flan and for some reason she brought out the dessert before the appetizers and main dishes. Well we ordered the watermelon mint margaritas and they tasted like chemical and expired syrup. Then our food came, we ordered the tacos and chingonntorta. Ayyy diosâŠ. We were super hungry because we saved our appetite for this experience. The torta was ok just the steak tasted a bit old and overcooked. The tacos seemed fine. So we told the waitress that we didnât enjoy the margaritas, since we could tell she was googling how to make them at first and she clearly didnât have any bartender experience and if it was possible to get a refund for those at least since we didnât drink them. She said no. The flan came.. didnât look fresh but bought or frozen and presented with chocolate drizzle and whipped cream that wasnât fluffy. Ugh it was disgusting. My friend took one bite and then we left. Iâm sorry but this was the worst experience Iâve had here in Chicago. Will never return and I still would like to have a refund for...
