i kept seeing this place on my ig feed and was honestly really excited to check it out, especially since itâs dog-friendly too. and i love humboldt park. i went with my sis and ordered drinks on the outdoor patio. one of them had two small flies in it when we received it, which means it likely got in during prep.
my sis politely asked the bartender if he could remake it. instead of just handling it, he got kinda defensive (which is fine i guess) and said something along the lines of, âthatâs what you get for dining outside.â he did agree to remake it, but then muttered loudly, âitâs the ELEMENT,â clearly meant for us to hear lmaoo
dude, was that last comment really necessary? like, does that mean all outdoor patios serve food and drinks with flies in them? i mean, i donât care if it happens while iâm eating because- of course thatâs the element but we literally just received it. you couldnât take two seconds to glance at the drink before handing it over?
my sister and i used to work in the service industry for a long time, and we still do part-time. so i for sure know we werenât being difficult. we just wanted a clean drink, especially for $14 đđ
there are plenty of dog-friendly bars with better service and chiller vibes with GOOD element. :) iâll go to those instead. iâm sure he would want that too, as we donât respect his...
Read moreI had the unfortunate experience of visiting Hi-Lo Bar recently, and I must say it was incredibly disappointing. From the moment I walked in, I felt out of place. The atmosphere was tense, and it was clear that this bar is not a welcoming space for black and brown people.
I tried to engage with a few patrons, but I was met with cold shoulders and dismissive attitudes. It felt like I had walked into a club where only certain people were accepted. The vibe was uninviting, and I quickly realized that this bar is not as inclusive as it claims to be.
To make matters worse, I witnessed some uncomfortable interactions where individuals made derogatory comments about people of color. It was disheartening to see such blatant disrespect in what is supposed to be a social space. I approached the bartender to express my concerns, but he seemed indifferent and uninterested in addressing the hostile environment.
Hi-Lo Bar may try to market itself as a fun spot, but it really falls short when it comes to creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere for everyone. If you're looking for a place where you can feel comfortable and included, I highly recommend seeking out other options in the area. This...
Read moreDidnât get the best service here. I wasnât going to leave a review about it until I saw I was overcharged. High lifes were $2 tonight. I had 3. Only 1 was $2. The other 2 were full price on my bill. Seems like the guy w/the thick beard/glasses is the only hospitable one who knows what theyâre doing there. He was the only one who gave out water at the bar while the chick got off on telling people (who were sitting at the bar) about some water station on the patio. The chick & tall guy were less than welcoming in general. Why did you give me my beer, but had me waiting on my shot while you decided to take 2 more orders in the mean time, tall guy? I wonât be back. Sucks because I like the space and the event tonight. Bummer - ruined the vibe/night at hi-lo. I wouldnât be tripping off $4 if the service was on point. Your service is wack AND...
