I had this expectation that whataburger didn't meet. I'm from Erie Pennsylvania and moved to Columbia south Carolina. I always thought whataburger was this great fast food chain boy was I disappointed. It's an average expensive fast food joint. I'm not saying it's not worth iti just thought in my head that it was the holy Grail of fast food joints. First the lady at the register. Horrible horrible customer service skills. You can tell she hates either her life or her job or both. People take a job knowing it gets busy then they get mad it's busy. Makes no sense. The burger is average at best the seasoning on the burger is almost on the line of being weird tasting but it isn't. The crinkle cut fries were nice and crunchy and they upsell the large size by not refilling your drinks. I guess that's genius on their end blame it on covid and force people to buy large. You aren't going to tell me sticking a cup under a fountain has anything to do with covid yet you refill the tea and water which you pour from a pitcher. Makes no sense that way but from business it does it forces you to buy a large. On top of everything they serve nasty flat tasting disgusting Pepsi. Coke is the biggest soft drink in the world. Get with the times. It's good if you are looking for fast food. I guess in my head I built whataburger up like it was this great place so I disappointed myself. They still get 4 stars because it wasn't awful it was decent like I said I just had it built up in my mind thinking it was the greatest fast food place ever....

This place is a West Columbia tradition! My father used to eat here when he was in high school! It's come a long, long way since its early days of a walk-up window (though it was good back then). Now it is a reasonably spacious building with indoor seating and heat and A/C, and it still has its good food! Hamburgers and cheeseburgers are the specialty, in my mind, but my friend has even had their steak dinner and says it's quite good. The fries are really delicious, too. I remember the milkshakes as good, but it's been a while, so I'll update when I try another one this summer. The parking lot can be a little tricky (a little small), especially when it's full of work trucks parking for lunch. I guess that fact, in itself, is a recommendation, though! Easy to see from the street and I find the staff to be nice. There is a drive-up window and you can call in an...

I've been living in and around Columbia for about 15 years, and I ate at What-a-Burger recently for the first time. I have to say, it did not disappoint! The burgers, in particular, rival anything I've had in or around the city. The condiments (lettuce, tomato) are fresh and not too wet, the bun pleasantly soft, and the patty immaculate. I also got a catfish basket which was quite good and very generously apportioned. Two burger baskets (burgers, fries and drinks) plus a catfish basket (catfish and fries, no drink) only cost about $23. The service was very polite - a little slow, but that's what you get when everything is clearly made to order. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is that they use crinkle-cut fries, which aren't my favorite, but even then they were well cooked without the soggy or cold middles you occasionally see. Four stars, Ellis says...

This little tiny plot of land may not mean a thing to you. But this is one of my fondest memories of growing up as a young child. See that nice window to the right? Well, that was once an opening in that wall where the most wonderful aromas and plumes of smoke would billow out at night. And that plot of grass? That was lined with rickety wooden picnic tables, stained by decades of grease, ketchup, mayo and lots of dried chewing gum underneath. Pop would stand in line while Mom and I would grab a table. Then Pop would bring over the tray of wax paper wrapped deliciousness known as a What-A-Burger. 70 years later, the food still tastes the same. Still wrapped in wax paper. I visted there today. I remembered a little bit of my childhood. The food was great. Life is good. You friends have a great weekend. Mine already is. 🍔❤🌭❤🍟❤🥤

The Philly was delicious - it came with lettuce and tomatoes. The hoagie was soft but held well. My daughter gave the double whataburger 5 stars alone. I can hardly wait to go again so that I may try it too... The fries were bland and could've cooked a little longer. I large sized my combo but didn't get more fries - I didn't eat them all anyway. The hot dog was okay. I prefer my fried okra to be crispy but didn't request it so, they were a little undercooked. The chicken tenders were good. My daughter didn't mention the cheese sticks so, I'm guessing they were good too.
