I’ve had Palmer’s before when it had been catered, and the food was good. Was excited to try the restaurant, walked in and was confused, no real signage that explains how to order. Stood in one line for a while, it ended up not being what I wanted so had to start over. Two other customers came in after me, they were also confused and we had to figure it out on our own, no direction from the staff aside from one grumpy gus behind the counter yelling “sandwich?”
Ordered the #3, grumpy gus looked at me confused, I guess I needed to order by name? Asked me multiple times if I wanted onion, pickle, etc. Yes please was my response each time. Made it through the line and then had to sort out how to pay for meal.
The sandwich was great and the chili was outstanding. Which is why I gave it 4 stars. Like others have mentioned, customers service is a bit poor and for a newbie walking in trying to figure out how to order a sandwich was a bit discouraging. (Why not a simple sign that’s says order sandwich here, order salad here, etc.).
I will be back and now that I know how it works I hope the overall experience is better.
Just hope grumpy gus is off...
Read morePlace is filthy with dirt all over the paneling and baseboards, and dust covering the vent grills where you order sandwiches like they haven't been cleaned in years. One vent grill was even falling off.
Ordered a beefeater which had almost zero cream cheese and for some reason a pumpernickel bun instead of brioche. Even for pumpernickel the bun was remarkably dry, especially on a sandwich with no real condiments. Arguably the worst sandwich I ever ate. One wouldn't think it took a lot of love to make a sandwich with 4 ingredients but there was nothing good about it. Nothing.
This used to be a great deli. I hope they fix whatever is going on there to bring back it's original quality. For now, it's a hard...
Read moreI ordered a chef salad with no cucumbers. She put cucumbers in it, but no tomatoes. I told her she was fine to leave the cucumbers in it, but that I did want tomatoes. She said "no tomato". I repeated that I did want tomato and she repeated "no tomato" again before turning around to put the lid on it as it was to go. Then she handed it to me and walked away to the next person. It was so busy there was no way to get anyone's attention to fix it. I didn't even want them to remake it without cucumbers, just also put tomatoes in it. And no, they weren't out of tomatoes, other people after me had them.
Never had an issue with the one downtown in the skywalk, though. Just this...
