Perkins American Food Co. — Restaurant in West Des Moines

We got seated right away. It was not busy at all. We ordered and waited about 30-40 mins for our food. They didnt give us all of our food right away and we had to wait another 10 mins for the rest of it. Mine had to be sent back because it had cheese on it which the waiter said as he was sitting it on the table and I waited another 10 mins for that to come back and everything was cold. It was freezing in there also. Went back to the bathroom to wash my hands and arms because the table was sticky and the ceiling tiles by the bathroom were all moldy and the bathroom was filthy. Walking out of the bathroom and back to the front I noticed numerous tables with plates and food on them just sitting there, and hairballs laying on the floor by the front desk going into the kitchen area. Water was dripping from one of the sprinklers on the ceiling in the dining area. Made me feel sick to my stomach just thinking about what the kitchen looked like and I ate that food. Although there have been many mixed reviews, we hit this spot at the right time. Our experience at this location was really nice. Our waiter Jeremy is a busy man but that doesn't stop him from delivering good customer service. He waited on many tables, yet somehow remembered our 3 orders by heart without writing them down. I was impressed. Another plus for me was the fact that he acknowledged my 3 year old and asked her what she wanted rather than asking us and continued many memorable conversations while doing his job. I will say the food could've came out faster but that is nothing to get that upset over considering how well the food was. Everyone's food was hot and tasted great. I hope this will be our new breakfast spot and not let us down like other places have. June 24th 2022 got there at 10pm, was greeted by the host and sat. We sat for 10 minutes with no drink, our host came back and asked if she could get us something to drink. My husband and I sat with our menus for 30 minutes to even see our server. When she finally came she took our order then we waited about another 35 minutes to get our food. While we were waiting for our food all the workers were just standing in the back talking about the guests and about how they don’t understand why people are complaining, playing loud inappropriate music. When new guests were walking in the host was meeting them at the door telling them they didn’t have any food left and they couldn’t eat there. Our drinks weren’t filled at all. Our server checked on us all of one time. I took a bite of my food and bit into plastic. After that I didn’t even eat my food I got up and left and they still made us pay for everything.
