Came from out of town for work(From Omaha to Caroll, to Des Moines) we worked a long day and just wanted a couple beers and some food. The waitress was completely hammered, not just drunk, she was blank stare through your head hammered. She could barely write our orders down on her paper(I saw it and it looked like a 5yr old wrote it) she asked us 3 or more times while taking our orders if our checks were separate. (we had 3 separate checks) She preceded to take our cards and try to write our names from the cards on her paper next to our order.
The food took forever. 30-45 mins for small fries, breaded shrimp and 5 meatballs. After our first drink, we were not checked on again to order another and when we tried to order one when she brought a piece of our order she just walked away and pretended she didn’t hear us. MWe asked for cocktail sauce with the shrimp in the original order and the drunk gave us hot sauce. When we took it up to the bar to get what we ordered the waitress threw her hands in the air like she was mad at us for asking for the correct order.
This was the worse service I’ve ever had at a bar and grill. They weren’t packed, it was a Wednesday evening at 8:30pm. They had less than 15 people in there. If the waitress wasn’t hammered, she could have actually made some money off of us. But unfortunately for her, she got zero. Bad attitude and drunk, not the kind of service anyone enjoys. I haven’t been to Des Moines in years and unless I have to be here again for work, I’ll never come back for any reason especially this bar.
Would be a great bar to use on that Bar Rescue show. He would...
Read morePlace has a clientele issue. Loud mouth at the bar tried to pick a fight with one guy for tapping his credit card and threatened to cut someone elses throat for telling him that was out of line. The bartenders response was simply that he (the instigator) was a regular and acted like that was a rational reaction. This bar is a news story and a dram shop insurance problem just waiting to happen.
Edit: I left my contact information with the bar and post conversation with the manager I have been assured that while the instigator was a semi-regular (still not a random walk-in from an area hotel) she was unaware of the full circumstances that surrounded that evenings event.
I still don't think the situation should have occurred or that it was handled correctly by the on-shift staff, but have been told that corrective guidance will be provided to staff and that the manager would find out who the instigator was to ensure no further conduct of that sort would be allowed.
Raising review from 1 star to 2 stars. This does not reflect a change in my opinion of the visit but my acceptance of the management's commitment to improve customer experience at Vista Pub.
Thank you (M) for taking the time to discuss this...
Read moreIt was a great night to start. The light blonde bartender was amazing. She was friendly, helpful, and super kind. BUT, the thin short brunette waitress had complained every time we’ve come in on the amount of tip I’ve left. The first time was 20%, she complained so I this time I went in and did all of my own running (which I’m very neat anyways, and always bring back empties and prefer to keep my area clean), the bill was 120, (it was a party and we actually ended up with a big group, but my bill was only 3 people on one). Since she complained last time and I always go out of my way on my own services, I tipped 10%. 136 and some change. She actually had the audacity to say something to me again. Highly doubt...
