I ordered the Pork Souvlaki Platter for take-out and I was surprised by what I received when I opened the box up at home (see picture). I basically paid $19 for a few pieces of pork, some corn and french fries. I tried to call the restaurant to ask if something had went wrong, but the girl who picked up the phone was adamant that this was my $19 Pork Souvlaki Platter. I asked her where the rice was (since it was supposed to be served "on a bed of rice") and she told me that the french fries were the substitute for the rice. When I called to make the order, I was asked what "side" I wanted, salad or french fries, so I assumed with the soup/salad that came with the platter, I could also ask for fries instead. In the end, not only did the french fries substitute the rice (which was not what I asked for), but I did not even receive a salad or soup. When I asked the girl on the phone, she told me that I had to ask specifically for the soup/salad, otherwise she just assumed that I did not want either. This does not make sense and I have never had that happen to me at a restaurant before. I did not want the fries as a substitute for the rice and I wish I had been ASKED before the person taking my order just assumed I did not want either soup or salad. Additionally, the "Vegetables" that I received was just corn. They should probably just say "corn" on the menu. The lady on the phone did not seem concerned with my problem AT ALL and made ZERO effort at customer service.
This is NOT $19 worth of food and honestly, I feel ripped off. I feel that this order could not have been correct and instead of trying to make things right, the girl who took my order over the phone tried to cover things up. My girlfriend ordered the cream of chicken soup and a beef gyro and they were both wonderful and costed WAY less than my platter. I hope that Effie's can figure out what went wrong here, so that it will not happen to...
Read moreSave your money and skip this place! This restaurant has changed. I had eaten at this restaurant about half a decade ago and decided to return for brunch last Thursday. To put it plainly, the food was terrible. I ordered a sausage and cheese sandwich on a croissant with homefries, and my partner ordered 'the big breakfast', which contained two bacon slices, two sausages, two eggs scrambled, and two pieces of french toast and she added a plate of homefries as well. The food arrived faster than expected, roughly ten minutes, and although the restaurant was not busy, I still felt as though it was too quick for the food to have been cooked to order. Upon examination, it wasn't entirely. The 'homefries' were red-skinned potatoes that I assure you had not ever seen a skillet. They were soft, boiled and chopped bland potatoes which had some sauted peppers tossed in and presumably were cooked in bulk. No crispy homefries here. The sandwich was basic. A frozen sausage patty with some kraft singles(tm) american cheese on top, total garbage, dunkin donuts does it better. They also managed to screw the order up and give me a fresh fruit side instead of the homefries at first which was the best part of the meal. My partner's food also took a dive into the bin shortly after being served. Her french toast was slimy and undercooked, despite there being little traffic in the restaurant. Homefries also disgusting soft boiled (not fried...) potatoes. The bacon was anything but fresh and it was soggy like it had been cooked the night before and served that morning. Same with the jimmy dean sausage she was served. I can't express this enough, please save your money and purchase breakfast elsewhere, a gas station would have better...
