The Fernwood is, on the outside, a very unassuming restaurant. With dark brick, and stained glass windows, it often can be difficult to tell if the restaurant is even open.
Once you enter however you are greeted by a classic pub dining room, and a team that seems to all share a sense of ownership of the restaurant. From the friendly greeting and conversation, to the wait staff being constantly cleaning nooks and crannies to make it exceptionally clean throughout, you will feel exceptionally comfortable and welcome.
The food is somewhat eclectic, but in the best way. While there typical comfort food dishes, and something everyone will enjoy on the menu, there is an eclectic and interesting selection of more traditional pub foods. The food has been served perfectly cooked and was delicious every time I've been.
The dishware is somewhat dated in appearance, but not in quality, condition, and cleanliness, which were all perfect. The dishware actually added to the environment by further contributing to the traditional pub feel.

Read moreI have been coming here since the 80s and it hasn't changed. And that's why I keep coming here! It is a comfortable, clean, traditional old-school pub/restaurant with quality drinks, good food and a professional and friendly staff. Prices are reasonable and the place is always clean and quiet. If you want to go somewhere with friends or family etc. and actually be able to have a conversation without yelling, or a having clanging or loud music and noise in the background this is the place to go.. Food is good and portions are of quite reasonable to good size. They have some traditional dinners like roast beef which is one of the best restaurant roast beef dinners I've had in this area. Soups, mashed potatoes, meals, etc are all made fresh on site. And they always have some daily special appetizers. soups, appetizers and dinner...
Read moreThis was the most homey, Renaissance tavern-like place! Almost like I stepped into an Elizabethan movie scene. The stained glass windows are gorgeous! The service was impeccable and the locals were talkative, warm and nostalgic about there growing up coming to the Fernwood in the 60s and 70's. My salmon caesar salad was fresh, crisp and plain old good eats! My cranberry vodka was perfect and the clam chowder was thick and brimming with clam, cream and potato goodness! I wanted to come here forever and while I waited to get my nails done next door, I went for it. Not a mistake was made on this day. It's a must try! I've heard St. Patty's Day is a blast and if you like it ...they have liver and onions on the menu. Tell em Kitty sent you! You won't be disappointed...
