Harry’s BC has been a West Hartford staple for years. Literally one of the only places you could get a consistently good pizza that is more than just dough and cheese. I have loved Harry’s so much that friends and family from out of state raved about how good the pizza is. Unfortunately, if Harry’s puts out the service and the food I received tonight they are not going to last long.

Since going to Harry’s for nearly a decade now I am pretty familiar with the menu and what I want to eat. Typically, when I come in I will tell the waiter everything that I want and they will put in an app and pizza with enough room in between that I don’t feel rushed. Today I received the appetizer of garlic bread and pizza (which both were sub par) with approximately 30 seconds in between. Not much of an appetizer at that point.

Regardless, when trying the garlic bread it was extremely doughy and inconsistent. It is said that it is focaccia but as you can see in the pictures it looks like two different breads where uses both being bad.

The pizza came out 30 seconds later and immediately I knew it was not it. Covered in oil, not as thin and crispy as typical, the sauce not having nearly as many tomato chunks as before (it’s makes a difference). , I still decided to try it. A mistake. The cheese is disgusting tastes like a cheese blend you can get from you local grocery store. I ate two slices and felt nauseous. The piping hot, soggy, greasy, cheesy mess is not the pizza that West Hartford and neighbors have come to know and love. I hope they get this fixed if not it’s will be Harry’s demise.

After have horrible food I thought maybe the service would be consistent like always but again it was not. I don’t even know what my servers name was because it was not given. Other than taking our order she was MIA. She would run around but it seems like no one was able to get her attention because my table had to almost cut her off after 10 minutes of trying to make eye contact and be polite just to get a glass of water. 15 minutes after we finished eating and countless times trying to catch her attention. We finally had enough and asked a different waitress for the check. Not once were we asked for napkins (which we were not given) or cheese (also not given). Not only did we have bad service but it seemed other tables were as well as one guest went to the pickup area to pay his bill that was never given to him.

I have heard and met the new owners of Harry’s BC, as nice as he is, kindness will only get you so far. Especially at a restaurant. The reputation that precedes the new owners is one I hope is not lost but I fear is already...

Good thin crust pizza, don't think I've ever had a bad pie from here, ever. They serve slices at lunch during the week. They make some good seasonal pies that I've enjoyed although typicaly I order my own toppings. The complimentary lemon or grapefruit sorbet at the end is a perfect finishing touch. If you're dropping in during busy times be aware that there is limited seating. ...had to come back and edit to note one major fault (I should probably take a star or 2 off for this)- they CAN NOT make a pepperoni pizza- one of the most popular pizzas for people to order. The problem is there is too much fat in the pepperoni they use and their crust is too thin. All of that fat cooks off and soaks right through the crust, making for one of the greasiest pizzas ever. Can't soak it up first either as the grease drips down through the crust. Hands dripping with orange grease as you try to eat. I first noticed this when they accidentally gave me someone else's pizza, think it was sausage and pepperoni. Had a friend visit a few weeks ago who wanted a pepperoni pizza, ordered from them and discovered the same. If you're ordering pepperoni mixed in with several ingredients you'll probably have no problem, but if perpperoni is your main topping- I wouldn't recommend it. BTW, by itself the pepperoni pieces crisp up nicely on the pizza, you just can't have that many on that thin crust. The pepperoni is also salty as hell. Amazing that they can do virtually everything else there so well but mess up...

Usually order for dinner takeout on weekdays and pizza is great. Ordered today on a weekend, asked for lightly baked as I always do and 1 of 2 pizzas had almost raw dough in certain areas. Called back and complained and the person who answered the phone did not once say sorry..... shocking. She did offer to give credit back for the unsatisfactory pizza. In addition to the pizza not being cooked properly, topping were minimal and not distributed well. I understand if mistakes happen with the pizza once in a while, but the interaction when I called to nicely complain for the first time as a long time customer at Harry’s was as if they didn’t really care. Before I hung up, I gave her a chance to at least say something along the lines of “I’m sorry for the inconvenience” but instead, attitude. Some background for family lunch today: Kids didn’t eat the pizza, they are hungry, so I had to go out and get something else for them to eat. Thanks for the inconvenience and a great start to the weekend. I usually don’t write reviews, but I’m happy to give a little more insight for those who need training to understand the importance of customer service, relationship, and...

I had dinner alone tonight which is a treat at times. I was warmly greeted and shown to a table as soon as I entered the restaurant. My drink order came quickly and she returned for my order as I was not ready to order at first. The waitress was attentive and my tip reflected that. I ordered the ceasur salad, garlic bread, and a large pizza with broccoli and riccotta cheese.. the salad came first and the garlic bread arrived after I had eaten my salad.... I wanted it together, but the salad was delicious, the garlic bread was not what I was expecting, but it was tasty, the Large pizza was huge, great for left overs, the crust was tender and chewy... great combination! The pizza was tasty and even better as a late night snack at home...delicious. I will be back. Thank you for a lovely dinner.

This is a covid 19 takeout review. All food is eaten fresh in the vehicle. I got the garlic bread and an Alla Romana pizza with pepperoni and roasted red peppers. The garlic bread was quite good, the Asiago cheese gave it a real nice flavor. At $31 this was the most expensive pizza I have ever purchased. I wanted it to be lacking so I could complain about the price. But I can't. This was an excellent pizza, thin crust with a little crunch but chewy. Very good sauce, nice cheese, and beautifully cupped pepperoni. Lots of topping on the pizza. On a scale from 0-10 I would rate this 9.8.
