My friends and I visited for taco and margarita night. The bartender ID’d my friend (who took a moment to locate her license) by saying, “Just tell me the year you were born.” I’d like to point out what while this is well appreciated by those who may have forgotten their IDs, it is definitely not appropriate nor legal.
A few minutes later, my partner attempted to order his third margarita, and the bartender asked who was driving, to which I responded, me, as I was ordering a glass of water after one margarita. She then said, “Okay, thanks. Because we are being watched.”
We finished our meals and paid our tabs before re-locating to the downstairs bar. On our way, we asked the bartender if it was okay if we finished our unfinished beverages downstairs, and she responded, yes.
Upon arriving downstairs, the bartender very aggressively and loudly declared that we had been barred and he wouldn’t be serving us.
His response to our presence downstairs was so outrageous that we thought he was joking. I turned to my partner and laughed saying, “It’s okay, he just has the wrong people.” This was especially shocking because we did not receive any warning prior to our relocation.
Unfortunately, they were not in fact joking. He and a cook (who invited himself to join the conversation) tried to declare that we had arrived at the establishment hours before we had been there. Feeling very confused and defensive, we showed them time stamped pictures of us enjoying other recreational activities during the time frame in which they had claimed we had arrived and had been drinking at the bar. The response we received was, “This proves nothing.”
To be clear, we are not unreasonable people. We would have happily paid our tabs and left had them bartender and/or owner articulated our need to do so. The intense response that we received from the staff was not only rude and disorienting, but insulting. When I attempted to speak to the bartender, asking for a more clearly articulated “cut off” in the future, I was told by a cook, “I’m going to cut off your conversation right here. You had more than one margarita (no I did not, check your cameras and receipt), and good luck getting your friends home.” This was delivered in a sarcastic manner.
I was part of the alma mater that experienced the trauma associated with a death and arrest that took place when this bar (under difference ownership) failed to care for their drinking patrons adequately. As a result, I understand and respect the need for rules and regulations for drinking, but the way that this situation was handled was very unprofessional . All involved parties should take a good look at the video footage time stamps (that I’m certain must exist), and reflect upon their dramatic reactions. There are better ways to express this to actual drunk patrons.
Lastly, I’d like to point out that a cook should not have the audacity to follow customers out of the establishment and to their vehicles to get his final two cents in. Again, very unprofessional to the point that I began to wonder if the orange water bottle he was carrying around contained more alcohol than we were give the opportunity to consume on the establishment.
Finally, the tacos were dry and took forever to receive - so you simply cannot rely on your happy hour specials to draw in customers. We had no interest in being drunk patrons today or in the future, but we are not going back because both the tacos and the service were an embarrassment.
I leave this review with the impression that the workers would rather challenge me to kill my friends driving home from their bar than actually review a receipt and video footage of our arrival to provide fair judgement of our intoxication before flagging us without telling us. As a reminder, I was told, “Good luck getting home” by the cook.
Do better. Your staff is unprofessional and untrained.
Lastly - to the sweet woman upstairs that bartends- go somewhere else. You’re really adorable and kind, and you are working...
Read moreThe last few deliveries have arrived cold/warm. The first time we just called to let them know. The second time the food was over 35 min late , we called and we're told the food should be there any minute. We called 2x and were told its on the way. On the 2nd call, when the food was 45 min late and the manager was understanding and offered to replace the food. 2 min later the food did show up but it was cold. The food was remade and was delivered to us in less than 30 minutes! This was appreciated.
Today, we placed an order online at 4:09pm for 730pm delivery. The order was 18 min late, my husband called and while on the phone the driver arrived. The food was warm/cold again. I called them to inform them. They said they can replace the food. I did tell the girl on the phone the kids had already started on the pizza and tenders. She said that it's fine.
During the wait we received a text saying "they will NOT deliver here any longer. That we can pick up orders, but the food will be as is when picked up." I thought that texted lacked responsibility for their tardiness or appreciation of their patrons. IF YOU OFFER DELIVERY THE FOOD SHOULD ARRIVE HOT and in an acceptable time range.
Food was redelivered and hot and well made! It was delicious.
BUT then, we received a TEXT saying they will not honor the coupons removed from the box! OKAY FIRST OFF, I REMOVE THE COUPONS EVERYTIME THE DELIVERY ARRIVES (using the scissors I use to cut the tape on the box. I DIDNT KNOW IT WAS GOING TO need to be returned. The fact hurricane sent a text addressing missing coupons and not apologizing that the food was late or cold is definitely poor customer service skills.
Food overall is a solid 4 to 5 stars when hot! Service 2 stars - Poor customer service skills- the texting was petty. I understand if they are unable to deliver to our home. But the texting was not appropriate when they were late with deliveries. No food stays hot in a car for 45 min or even 20 min.. were about 6 min away from their location.
Last time we had an issue, I totally respected the manager. Today, the service was NOT acceptable. I didn't ask them to replace the food. The girl on the phone offered.
So, 3 stars overall. The food is really good. Customer service/management...
Read moreOne of the worst experiences at a restaurant that I've ever had and NO WAY TO CONTACT THEM on their website! In this day and age what business doesn't have a way to contact them (or the owner) if there's a problem. I've worked in restaurants for the last 40 years and have never encountered anything like this. We went in at 4pm on a Wed. Ordered mozz sticks, a cheesesteak and some of the crab fries. After 30 min I asked about the mozz sticks and was told they were very busy (only 1 other table and 4 other workers playing on their phones in the kitchen) and would be out shortly. After 45 min they came out, lukewarm at best so they were hard. After another 10 min our cheesesteak and crab fries came. Cheesesteak had no sauce (though it was listed on the menu) and the crab fries were cold enough the cheese on top was hard (like the mozz sticks). Server never came back and I had to go to her about it. She didn't seem to care so I asked for a manager. I was told there wasn't a manager or anyone in charge to talk to. Again- what!? I talked to the young girl at the counter who was doing carry out and explained the problem. She took off the mozz sticks and then had the server hand us the check. I told the server I wasn't happy and we didn't even touch the crab fries because they were inedible. Again she just didn't seem to care. I went back to the counter again and explained again that everything was cold and weren't going to eat. At this point she took off the crab fries but added the mozz sticks back on. I ended up paying for the cheesesteak (which we did eat half of since we were so hungry) and the mozz sticks and left. I usually give a place a second chance because everyone has a bad day when everything goes wrong but this was bad food, bad service and to top it off there was no way to tell anyone connected to the business what a bad experience it was. Unbelievable! I def won't be going back right away, if ever. Maybe I'll wait 6 months to see if...
