Hubby and I took the girls to Columbia today (about 30 minute drive) to pick up a special Christmas present. After picking it up, the car wouldn't start. After trying to jump it, and still not starting we decided to eat at Columbia Family Restaurant, next door to where we were. We were already in a bad mood, and it was our youngest's nap time to boot. You never know what you will get with a family restaurant, especially one you've never been to. (Believe me, my family owns a rather large chain of family restaurants) The whole experience was A++++ SUPURB service, food, pricing and the ENTIRE staff was super sweet. (We never told anyone what was going on). At the end of our meal, the hostess came over and grabbed our check and said someone had paid for our meal. On the verge of tears because of the kindness. We were stopped by about 5 different tables to talk to our girls and an older gentleman even came over to talk to our oldest to tell her he loved her singing. (She sings everywhere she goes). What was a rotten day was turned into a beautiful day filled with the kindness of complete strangers. Not only do I wish to thank the kind stranger who paid for our meal but also the entire staff and patrons of this wonderful little diamond of a restaurant. Restored in faith of humanity today. And if you are ever in Columbia, PA... I HIGHLY recommend you stop and taste the yummy food with the warmest greetings from staff...
ย ย ย Read moreI am a visitor to the area and was looking for a good restaurant to eat breakfast for a few weeks. I've eaten at the restaurant once before. I thought the food was good and the service was ok. I called there one Sat morning for an order to go. I was in my hotel room and it appeared the waitress was having a difficult time hearing me as my reception was very weak and spotty, I suggested to her I would move to a another location in my room. Once I moved to another location, I of course asked her Can you hear me now?. She then stated "Yes I can hear you, What can I get you? I have a lot of things to do." Really? I got the impression I was a burden to her and she had more important things to do than take my order. I apologized and told her to disregard. I always tip at ,least 30 to 40% for my in restaurant service and 20 to 25% for to go orders. So this is the way I'm treated on the phone? Perhaps since I'm coming in from a southern state, I should have left the expectation of hospitality at home.. Wow... I'm a good customer. I'll eat elsewhere for the last few...
ย ย ย Read moretypically enjoy going here. not sure what was wrong today but the hostess was very rude. I had a coupon to use and had presented it after she calculated the bill and made the BIGGEST deal about having to re-add up the bill with mu coupon stating to me "YOU SHOULD HAVE PROVIDED THIS FIRST NOW I HAVE TO REDO ALL OF THIS" followed by multiple loud moans and sighs. going along with this our waitress was not friendly and did not come back to the table after she gave us our meals to ask for drink refills or to see how the food was. my grandmothers food was cold and she did not eat it but no one came to ask us. she also did not clear the table of dirty plates rather continued to pile our food overtop of the salad plates. Will not be back for a long time. very disappointed all...
