Oshu House — Restaurant in West Jefferson

Hospital food is often better than this. There was no sushi available. I had shrimp and scallops served with CARROTS? and rice accompanied by a dipping sauce. Nothing had ANY flavor..even the seafood was bland. The carrots were mushy/bland and the rice was also bland...the sauce was...well...didn't improve the taste of anything very much. I also ordered spring rolls (deep fried - crispy outside - bland inside). I think they were boxed frozen from the supermarket !!! I don't know how this restaurant stays in business...I won't go back. On the bright side...I didn't get sick but I still wouldn't give it even a single star if it weren't necessary to post this review. BTW..the waitress was nice but needs training. My family and I we’re visiting for a wedding this weekend and stumbled across this amazing restaurant. Great environment, great food, and even better service from Holly. Holly was absolutely amazing! As a family we had her running around a bunch with all of our requests. She was also the only server on and was able to keep all tables happy and maintained! The one thing I would change with the restaurant is the Host/manager’s opinion of his staff. The manager had talked down to us about an employee and belittling them. As a former bartender/ waitress; the serving staff is your back bone of the restaurant. Please do not belittle them as they are the reason you have...

Gotta say, that the chicken was very fresh and delicious, everything else was just....bland. Even the dinning room was bland. I felt like I was in a hospital lunch room. Also, seeing the kitchen cleaning area from the table is a turn off. Manager making rude, inappropriate comments to staff and well.. I'm not impressed. Add some color. Add a water feature, plants, flowers, and change the music! How about a nice Asian instrumental? Have a sushi bar... introduce the culture of Japan in your restaurant. Clean restaurant just boring.
