Smoky Mountain Barbecue — Restaurant in West Jefferson

Went there for the first time today and was not impressed with our meals at all. I have read alot of others comments about the meals they got and the people around us meals seemed good but not what the wife and I ordered.

We had the beef brisket meal. Brisket tasted like wet card board. It was tough to eat and I didn't finish it. I very seldom leave anything on my plate even when I don't like it. Macaroni was good but not home cooking kind more like Stouffer's in the tin. Fried okra was fried okra.

The good: Sweet tea was very good. We got some chocolate chip cookies that were very large and good with an affordable price. The service was very friendly and place was very clean. Cafeteria style served that I like instead of waiter service that usually isn't good. Like being able just get up and get my own refills as needed.

Again people around us had fried chicken and fish. All smelled and looked good. I'm not not recommending this just saying wouldn't get...

My wife and I have wanted to try this place for years now. Occasionally we will drive past it and remember it is there. Finally we made the trip and I am glad to report that we had a fantastic experience. Granted the inside isn't open likely due to being short staffed. However, everyone was very polite and the drive through wait was perfect on such a slow day. We ate on the porch which is still open to customers. The Food was everything we wanted it to be. Flavorful, great portions and in the bags was everything we could of needed including two different sauces for the bbq. By the way, that barbecue based sauce was fantastic and leaned a bit more towards eastern style (which is my preference of course)...great mix. Altogether, a great experience. Sweet tea was great. Can't forget to mention that the prices are more than fair givin these times. We will be returning....

What an amazing place and amazing staff I’m a tractor trailer driver from PA passing through after I picked up a load of beautiful local Christmas trees I googled local bbq places and this popped up immediately and I just knew it was gonna be exactly what I was wanting an official real bbq spot and I tell u on everything I love in this world my expectations were blown out of this realm I could literally taste the love and passion they put into their bbq!! The best rack of ribs I’ve ever eaten fried chicken was excellent also I had Mac n cheese beans and hush puppies which I was educated on today that they are actually corn bread which I loved and topped it all off with a slice of lemon meringue and a sweet tea thank you owners and staff for showing me what real bbq is. God bless and I will see u again for sure I highly recommend this spot...
