I had fond memories of kimchi from many years ago, and I wanted to see if it was as good as I remembered it. I recalled giant bowls of delicious food I would eat on payday after mowing lawns for a job in high-school.
Upon returning, I realized that much had changed... Pros: The serving size was right for the price. It was very filling. Around 16$ for a large bowl of noodles. 2.The food itself was very well cooked and seasoned. I was wary to return after reading online reviews which mentioned a mandatory tip. To my pleasant surprise, this was not the case. I was charged for my meal only and was able to make my own choice about gratuity.
Cons: There were many signs taped on the walls about how each visitor must order a separate dish. I came by myself, so it was not that bad, but it makes me hesitant to return here on a date or with a friend; Sharing a giant bowl of noodles together is not an unreasonable thing to ask. I ordered a spicy seafood udon, and was disappointed to find only a little seafood in there: Only one shrimp and one mussel. There were decent amounts of squid, though.
Overall, I enjoyed returning to kimchi after not eating there for so long. However, the flaws I mentioned will probably keep me from returning in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMaybe my hopes were too high based on the ratings here, but I was not impressed. I placed an order over the phone for pickup, and they left out two of the five entrĆ©es. I wasnāt charged for them at least, they just left them out of the order entirely. The food wasnāt terrible or anything but definitely one of the worst (least good?) Korean restaurants Iāve eaten at (well, not at in this case but whatever). There were no banchan included, which I hadnāt even considered a possibility - every Korean meal has banchan and at every Korean restaurant Iāve been to theyāre included with everything. I donāt think Iāve ever seen it mentioned on a menu either because itās just so fundamental; it would be like specifying that your food comes served on a plate.
Also I should have known better than to order dolsot bibimbap for takeout cuz like, thereās no way theyāre going to give you a scorching hot stone bowl to take home, but I was curious to see what they would do. Unsurprisingly, it was just non-dolsot bibimbap, which is still good miles away from dolsot. Oh well.
Maybe it was just an off day and I wish I could give them the benefit of the doubt, but there are other, better Korean restaurants in town so Iād say give...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOK, the taste is nice and above average of other Korean food. But we go severe diarrhea after having spicy hotpot and seafood pancake. My stomach felt sick even before finishing the meal, and I rushed into toilet then diarrhea like thereās a rocket on my back. Cannot believe the food just gave me experience like eating poison. I can have the feeling of thereās a non-sharp knife cutting on my stomach. Btw, the water smells like bleach.
Service is good, only 2 stars is because thereās a mandatory 20% service fee. Well, please tell me if the kimchi little dishes will be charged before I start order or please tell me this mandatory fee so I can choose another restaurant. Donāt charge this fee for just giving the bleach water to me. I can find another way to suicide myself instead of being killed by the water and being forced to pay tips at the same time. But, I mean it, if youāre charging me for the service that the waiter cut the unfrozen and hard as stone bulgogi for 3 minutes in my hotpot, then I might understand why thereās 20% tips. The waiter and waitress have to work really hard to get the food fully cooked in front...
