I want to start with the basic stuff before I get into what made this place special. Note that I travel A TON and have stayed in lots of hotels all over the world, and at all price points.
Newer hotel, so no worries about old, outdated stuff. The rooms were nice, breakfast was the typical continental, parking was aplenty, and there are lots of restaurant options super close + a Starbucks. Yay! Also, dog friendly which I needed for this trip.
So, what made them special? I was in the area to do testing for my dog to hopefully get into a clinical trial at Purdue Veterinary Hospital. Her release time on the final day was sort of up in the air, but we knew it would be mid to late afternoon. Meanwhile, I just left the W2 income world to branch out as an independent consultant. While my girl was with Purdue, I was working so as to minimize the impact of my personal life to my customers. Of course I had a couple afternoon calls on my last day there, and I can't take them out in open for privacy reasons. I stopped by the front desk the day prior and explained the situation and asked if there's any way at all that they could give me a 2:30-ish checkout. The young lady asked me to hold tight while she spoke with the manager. When she returned, she said they'd give me until 4pm just in case I needed extra time. Funny enough, I did end up needing that extra time.
This team is amazingly empathetic and kind. It seems like such a small gesture, but this really had a huge impact on me during a very stressful time...ya know...newly self-employed, traveling without familial support, and navigating a really aggressive cancer diagnosis with my dog in which Purdue is really our only hope. They were also so loving toward my dog, which meant a lot as well. A hotel is bed, TV and a place to store your clothes. Sometimes the linens and fixtures are nicer, but the employees make...
Read moreLocked out of my car that held 3 carseats. The "manager" here named Brittany forced me, my poor old mother, and 3 toddlers, one of which has autism, to remain in a room that had some type of bed bugs in them attacking us all night to the point where my 4 year olds neck was bleeding due to scratching all night. The staff before this "manager" showed up was apologizing left and right because they didn't have the authority to put us in another room till she showed up well after 10am when they already told me at 6am that her starting time was suppose to start at 7am. Her unapologetic, no responsibility taken for her nasty management with insect control, cold-hearted, unprofessional response, and resolution was out of this world unacceptable, and I hope that by reaching out to corporate they take action because had she not cut me off so many times saying things like "your checking out soon honey" or "I sent room service to go in and rip the sheets off and shake them looking for bugs" WHILE WE WERE STILL IN THE ROOM?!?!??! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? What mother would agree to that with her 3 babies in the room?!?!? All I asked was that we were placed onto a different floor level room since this one was infested. A very simple resolution this "woman" could not accommodate to a struggling single mother who was just trying to make things easier for my ma who just recently survived a heart attack by watching 3 toddlers here at a "nice hotel" to keep under better control and it turned out to be a nightmare because of one evil, missererable poor excuse of a female manager.... We family and I unfortunately have to spend a lot of money in hotel costs. But this location will never receive another dime so that as that thing is...
Read moreWe were looking for a place to stay for our visit at Purdue University. The hotels on campus or near campus were ridiculously expensive, so I used Google Map to search nearby hotels. Then I found this hotel that hadn't been reviewed yet. I looked up the website, and there's no photo or anything. I figured this might be very new, so I decided to give it a try.
The hotel is located a bit off the Northwestern Avenue, and there are quite a few stores nearby, such as Panera Bread and Walmart. The area looked like a newly developed area as the trees were still quite small.
When we entered the hotel, I could smell the newly built freshness. We were greeted by a very sweet receptionist who told us that this hotel just opened two weeks ago.
Our room was on the 3rd floor. I had a feeling that we might be the first to use the room as the room looked so new and sparkling. There is a small kitchen equipped with everything you need. I wish I were there for a longer stay so that I could have tried out the kitchen.
The bedroom was very spacious. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was also very spacious. There's no bathtub, but the shower was pretty nice. The water pressure was strong, so taking a shower there was very enjoyable.
The breakfast was complimentary. We were there for only two nights, but the breakfast menu was different on each day. There were also variety of options to choose.
The staff here were very friendly and polite. I am sure that we will...
