Corner Coffee + Provisions — Restaurant in West Monroe

Corner Coffeehouse has a special place in my heart. My sweet friends, and I used to sit and drink coffee every Thursday morning before school to talk about the Lord and what He was doing in our lives. (Shoutout to Mrs. Tara, Linds, & Hallie!!) I would get an iced white chocolate latte and a blueberry scone! It hit the spot every single time!! I no longer live in West Monroe, but my family does; therefore, when I come to visit, I long for their iced coffee and blueberry scone! When I was in college, I would get my Corner Coffee House fix every. single. time. Now, I am not a fan of change, so when I heard they would be moving and changing, I was not excited. Though I will say the new coffeeshop is very cute and on trend, and the iced coffee tastes similarly to the original...My ONE and ONLY request is to please, please, please go back to the original scones!! I miss them so much!! In conclusion, I am aware of my resistance to change and know it's a me thing, and it seems like this business is KILLING it with their bowls & classic coffeeshop vibes which is awesome! I am an avid supporter of local businesses and am sad that I will not be supporting this one. Of the 3 employees, only 1 said good morning. There were 2 other customers and THEY said good morning. I waited for 3 minutes after the other customers were gone before I was even asked if I had been helped. I smiled and said "not yet". The young man took my order, a large Breve', extra hot. When he returned with my order, (he did not make it by the way) I was a bit shocked by the $6.35 total. I had no idea that half and half was on the Endangered list. I paid the young man and shook his hand, thanking him for saying good morning and that it was very sweet. Here's the kicker, that cup of coffee was warm, not hot, and most assuredly not hot. I, on the other hand, was quite hot. Hot enough to almost go back in side, but I reminded myself that the Christian thing to do was be kind and grateful, so I refrained. I now wonder if I should have gone back inside and reminded them to be kind and grateful...maybe I will on Sunday when I see...

Now first I'd like to say that the coffee was pretty good, but for the overall dining experience I wasn't really impressed. I ordered a bacon and egg biscuit because someone recently told me that it was the best biscuit they'd ever had. So they gave it to me and the biscuit was hard and cold, yet the eggs and bacon were pretty warm. I asked if they had a microwave or some way to warm the biscuit up since it was cold to the touch. (Certainly it would seem much colder in trying to eat it since the average mouth is 98.6.) So he said sure he could microwave it again. Yes, he said again. I was under the impression from the referral to this place that they surely would serve fresh biscuits, apparently I was mistaken. I'll add that it was around 11 AM so we may have just gotten there too late for the fresh ones, but that would have been nice to know ahead of time if that's just how they get rid of...
