I recently had the pleasure of visiting Nicholas Family Kitchen in West Orange for the second time, and I must say that it has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants since moving to New Jersey in 2018. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the impeccable service, comfortable ambiance, and, of course, the outstanding food.
First and foremost, the service at Nicholas Family Kitchen is truly exceptional. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the staff managed to maintain their game face and deliver top-notch service. They were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that every guest felt welcomed and well taken care of.
One aspect that stood out to me was the well-spaced tables, which provided a sense of privacy and comfort. It's refreshing to dine in a restaurant where you don't feel crammed into a tight space. The ample room between tables allowed for a relaxed dining experience, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the meal.
Now, let's talk about the food. I was delighted to find that each dish was prepared with care and attention to detail. What impressed me the most was that nothing felt pre-made or reheated. Every plate that arrived at our table was piping hot and bursting with flavors. The freshness of the ingredients and the skillful execution by the culinary team truly shone through in each bite.
Although I'm still adjusting to the BYOB policy, the staff at Nicholas Family Kitchen made the process seamless. When I expressed my uncertainty, our server happily directed me to a nearby liquor and wine store to choose my desired beverages. This level of thoughtfulness and willingness to accommodate guests is a testament to the exceptional service they provide.
Overall, my experience at Nicholas Family Kitchen was nothing short of delightful. The combination of impeccable service, spacious atmosphere, and mouthwatering cuisine left a lasting impression on me. Whether you're seeking a memorable dinner with loved ones or a special occasion celebration, this restaurant is a fantastic choice.
I wholeheartedly recommend Nicholas Family Kitchen to anyone searching for a remarkable dining experience in West Orange. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. I'm genuinely thrilled to have found such a gem and look forward to returning in the near future.
Thank you, Nicholas Family Kitchen, for consistently delivering excellence and creating memorable moments for your patrons.

Read moreWe had the pleasure of having our rehearsal dinner here. Not only was the restaurant convenient and close to our hotel and wedding venue, it also has parking right outside and also across the street. But beyond the convenience, the food, staff, and owners are all absolutely amazing. We met with Nick and Christie only about a month before our wedding date and were able to secure a date for our rehearsal. They were excellent at communication, which was really helpful to us since we lived too far away to come in and talk and discuss food options and such. Both of the owners were there the night of our event being they are the chef and one of the staff, which I thought was great. If we ever had a question we could talk to them or any of their friendly accommodating staff. We had a family style meal and all the choices were delicious. I especially enjoyed the bolognese. It reminded my of my favorite restaurant in Brooklyn. We also had cannoli's from them for dessert. They were so yummy that my Italian born aunt thought the ricotta was imported from Italy. Even though I don't have plans to return back to the west orange area, I would make a trip back here just for the food and service. I can't recommend them enough. Thank you so much nick, Christie, and...
Read moreI am shocked by all great reviews saying that the food was excellent. I really feel bad leaving this review honestly but I feel like I have to for the sake of this business. The staff was absolutely amazing. So nice and patient. Jody was our waitress and she was awesome! No complaints at all about Jody. The place was spectacular and clean and very warm and cozy. Now on to the food. I honestly thought the food was terrible for the prices they charge. I am sorry saying this but I came to this restaurant because of all the great reviews about the food. I ordered the seafood risotto. It was absolutely terrible. I felt like I was eating rice in a ragoo sauce having a tint of ketchup taste in it. I was so shocked when the plate came. My wife’s meal was nothing special at all either. She ordered the Nicholas Anthony pasta special and it was so soupy. My 5 year old ordered macaroni and cheese and when the food came, it was covered in pepper! Just serve the macaroni and cheese as is, it taste great without the pepper. Again I am sorry about leaving this review but this is...
