Overall, I recommend this restaurant and think it has great potential with few areas for improvement.
The location / design: very cool setting and design inside. Loved the concept of being in a warehouse district. It has an elevated yet casual pub vibe.
The food: Overall, the elevated bar-style food was tasty and high quality, but the prices are a bit high for what you get, and the menu needs to be more descriptive and/or the servers need to be more proactive in explaining the details of dishes. For example, the style and toppings of Tavern Burger aren’t mentioned on the menu (it’s a smash burger) or the toppings it has. I was asked “do you wanted everything on that?” without knowing what was on it - I had to follow up with, “well, what’s on it?” (lol). Thankfully, I really liked it personally; it had great flavor and a tasty signature sauce despite being quite small for the $20 cost. The wings are good (average) but were fresh and crispy. I would only order them on Happy Hour in the future (must sit at bar to get it until 6 pm or until 5pm at normal tables) though since $20 for 10 smallish wings is also pricey. The biggest disappointment was the Chicken Parm, there was also no description on the menu or from the server, and we were unpleasantly surprised that it didn’t come with ANY pasta (isn’t this standard?). It was simply a cutlet of chicken breast with cheese on a plate. It only came with a small Caesar salad on the side, again, no mention of this on the menu or from the server. What if someone doesn’t like Caesar salad and wanted an alternative side or dressing? The cutlet itself was decent but average; it would had been better with pasta considering the price as well.
Service: the service was overall good and attentive despite the comment above of needing to proactively explain the dishes more. One of my pet peeves is when a 20% service charge is included automatically (usually I only see this with large groups), and they do this, so be careful not to tip twice. Thankfully the server did circle this on the bill so it stood out, and I would had given 20% anyway, but it’s the idea of being forced that I don’t appreciate, and I’m sure some others...
Read moreLoud, fun, nice service. Started with the house made chips and French onion dip, very good. My burger was ok, I wouldn’t get it again the pickle was house made but mine had no flavor and the slaw was bland, just cabbage. Fries with my burger tasted like fish oil, which was weird because I didn’t see any fried seafood on menu. Incredibly fishy fries though. The Caesar salad with Mahi was alright. I didn’t love it. The market fish was a nice portion but ours was not cooked in the middle, very watery and my son didn’t care for the fries or slaw. Not a great place for kids. Definitely loud and fun environment though. Our server was amazing, I thought the auto gratuity service fee of 20% was a lame finish. Why not let me reward this guy for crushing it and being so on it. Makes 100% of his tip income taxable. Prices seemed higher than expected, we ate at the four seasons last night and this meal was more...
Read moreThis is what I would consider a neighborhood bar! Love it. It’s super casual but attracts a more upscale eclectic crowd-very diverse age group too. The menu is a bit limited and offers more of a “bar food” experience. We ordered a cheeseburger and some chicken wings. The cheeseburger was outta sight and so were the french fries! This would be my number one thing to order. Service is top and everybody seems genuinely happy to be working there. DJ on the weekends. I can’t put my finger on it, but this place made me feel nostalgic, like when I was back in my mid 20s and we just had a cool hang out local place for cocktails, simple eats and no...
